What have you done to your MS3 today?

And how do you know if they're dried completely? About how long?

Thanks for the extra info/tips about the lights. It's reassuring and makes me less nervous :)

*EDIT* Thought of a couple more questions:

How long did you reheat the headlight pieces before putting them back together? And once you press the pieces together do you have to let it sit a while before putting it back on the car?

when putting it back together, we heated it at 200 for about 10 minutes, just enough to melt the goo again and then press firmly to get it to squich in. Unfortunately there aren't the metal clamps that paylew mentioned are on the rsx, it's actually a clear knob that sticks ouf ot the headlight lense that you have to push into the black holders that are on the black backing of the headlight. we had to use a flat head screwdriver and use the heat gun to heat up the black part to bend it up and over the clear knobs to get it to hold. and it was kind of a pain. But if you have a heatgun it would really help in the process. As for the final heating, 200 degrees at 10 minutes is enough to get it to melt, but put the headlight in the socket first before reheating so all you have to do is mush it together after the oven melts the goo

when you look at older cars with plastic headlights. they are no longer cleer they are opaque, glazed over. i remember reading part of the reason was wax buildup on the lense.

what i have is the water sticking to the outside as opposed to running off, like the smootheness is gone, so I'll probably need to wax the headlights

I knew what you meant, just teasing another GA member. You put glases instead of glazes. Contrary to belief they aren't the same word.

We really need a howto on removing the headlight assembly, baking it, installing the demon eyes, and baking the assembly back together.

Also, is there any way to replace the amber reflector inside the assembly with a clear one?

in the how to section there is a guy who did it it to a regular 3 back in 2004 and the how to is long with lots of pics in it.

i agree with the orange reflector part, it is removable and it does come off when you take the lights apart, but the black part isn't rounded like the other light and it falls flat and you can see the half painted backside of the silver ring, so it looked UGLY! But yeah if there was a way to replace it with clear i totally would have done it for sure.

UHATEIT reguarding rotating tires, I just went front to back and vice versa, didnt change sides at all. I was very supprised at how worn my fronts were at 5K. The fronts almost looked like a different tire! Beware about throwing springs on your car BTW, many people are just learning that it puts more strain on your shocks and can blow them out eventually, just an FYI.

fixed my hyperblinkers by adding resistors. ive had them for months and never got around to doing them until today

not an MS3 but i'll chime in, i installed my Hasegewa Black Powdercoated Lugnuts as soon as I saw the USPS package this morning. ha!

Lowered the car yesterday, Dropzone springs which are 1.4 front and 1.4 rear drop. It's not even been a full day yet so they need time to break in and settle a little bit more. But they ride just the same as stock does, did the Install myself:

Wow, NIIIIICE drop!! Too bad it's too low for my area or I'd follow suit. You change up to Koni or something or are you on factory struts?

naw I'm running the stock struts, I'll see how they hold up. They will settle I'm sure over the next week, then I will probably do an alignment. BUT driving home last night i took it around turns and it held up well, went over some known potholes to check it out and they rode just like stock. I have 3 sets of speedbumps in my apt complex and i took them at the speed I normally do and they bounced over fine. They ride about as stiff as stock. It honestly rides perfectly straight after install, so I may not even need an alignment, tho alignment would probably only adjust the camber, and I dont have aftermarket camber links for this car.

These can be bought of Ebay for $89, the brand is Dropzone. Reason I went with these is because I lowered my wife's Jetta over a year ago 2.0-inches with the same brand, Dropzone, and she has no camber issues, no blown shocks, no saggy shocks, no inner tire wear, or anything bad AT ALL! So I figured if her car can go down 2-inches on stock struts and survived over a year now with no issues I think the speed3 should probably hold up at 1.4 drop. Then again it's a different car so we'll see what happens, I'll have faith in the stock shocks and see if anything blows at all.

It would be nice lestat if you could get these in your area, but you get snow out there. This drop at 1.4 front and rear is slightly more than the H&R springs which cost more than 2 times the price!
