What have you done to your MS3 today?

I've had the random misfire CEL twice, the first time was at around 8k miles and i took it to the dealership and they said it wasnt a misfire and that it was something else (can't remember). Although advance auto parts' little device said it was indeed a misfire. Not sure who to believe. The second time i didn't both taking it in and it went away after about 2 days.

If you can find one, borrow the DH from a local member.. to get this checked out sooner than later. Also IMO if you have a DH there's not too much need for a boost gauge. I have a prosport vent pod and really use it though. A worthwhile mod for sure.

the ventpod is just what i want, but im extremely picky. unfortunately i have an 08.5 (obviously got the white needle makeover) and i can't seem to find a good needle guage with the same color scheme. amber on amber (or red on red) works for me okay, but red with a white needle would be that much better. sick, i know, but it's a personal thing

and even now wanting a dashhawk i still don't feel that i could put it anywhere to make it look like it belongs in that particular spot, which is why i think the ventpod works so well.

either way i really want to get into monitoring the car. all i've got is a mazdaspeed cai with narry a plan to add anything else, and a bunch of horror stories compliments of mazda247. that and my first CEL at 28k which i successfully de-illuminated via battery unplug/replug, which may or may not have fixed the problem. im sure the code didn't go away, but i haven't the tools to truly fix it

AP is too much $ at this point, and i would have trouble leaving my car at the dealer with my schedule. so im just gonna have to wait and see i guess

Yeah the code is still in the history, for sure. That doesnt stop the dealership from wanting the light to be on before they will "fix" anything (why is that?)

well something like that they want a repeat of anyway, so they are gonna want to test drive it regardless of if you came in with the light on or off. and therein lies my problem, it didn't come back on today

now, if it had come back today that would make it easier to diagnose at the dealer, as long as it does it for them right away. other than taht, all they can do is run right down the steps in the diag book and check every single system it says to check. and for this particular code there are 18 steps of "check this, if yes do this if no do this." or they could hook up a scan tool (like a $5k one like a modus or something) and do a drive and read the results and try to pinpoint it there.

modern fuel injected computer controlled cars, a gift and a curse

I've been trying really hard to find an extra needle from somewhere to swap out with my red one on the ProSport (I have an '09 with Vent Pod/ProSport). I think a gas gauge needle would fit perfect... need to find a totalled 08.5 or 09.

im actually thinking they are LEDs and you could swap out a red one for a white one. but im not sure, they needle could actually have a red tint to it as well. and it probably depends on the gauge too.

i did manage to find one that had red numbers and marking with a white needle, but it was on a site solely for subaru stuff and it wasn't clear if the guage was to be used in conjunction with other subi equipment. and im pretty sure it wasn't mechanical either, cuz if it was it wouldn't make a difference. but i think the number font was just the same as the subaru OEM gauge font style

Im in the same boat as well. After a few months of searching i gave up. I'd be willing to try it out but am not too comfortable dropping 300+ on a gauge only to rip it open and jerry rig something together. I use the DH now.

Today I switched back to winter mode (winter tires/wheels), adjusted the sway bar, installed some new foglight bulbs, and installed the CPE FMIC I bought from a member.

summer tires off, winter tires on :(
205/50/17 Blizzak WS60 on some random 17" wheels off tirerack.

btw, isn't the TPMS light supposed to be on since I didn't get the TPMS sensor? It's not on...

Hey! I've been looking at this... how is it?

Great. They're so rare to come buy. But I finally saw a used one go up for sale. I sold him my left nut and first born to get it. Everyone was nipping at his heels to sell it to them.

It's definitely quieter than stock at idle or low revs. But when you get on it, it has an awesome Subaru growl. I love it.
