What have you done to your MP3 today???

Ok, didn't get a chance to upload pics, but I think I have my shifter cover situation cleared up; for the most part anyways. I'll post pics in the next couple days...

Should be a few packages arriving in the mail today. Corksport shifter bushings (urethane & bronze-oil), 3" shifter extension, & my Dave B ring replicas. (rock-on)

I'll be installing the new shifter setup one night this week, I think.

Anyone...Should I replace my Camshaft belt tensioner, camshaft belt idler, and tensioner spring when I change my timing belt?

Yes. You might as well, vs. getting it back together and then tmrw having to take it all back apart because your timing is off from you're tensioner giving out.

O and I installed my Dave B Ring replicas last night. ;)

Tonight, I'm installing a B&M SS, CS urethane bushings, bronze oil bushings, 3" shifter extension, skunk2 440g knob, and I'm gonna see how I like this shifter cover:

Got my water pump, Camshaft belt tensioner, camshaft belt idler, and tensioner spring, timing belt, and thermostat today. I'll be changing out all that Saturday and then if I still have daylight I'll start on the turbo install

^Nice. I bet you're stoked about that, lol. (thumb)

O, and what did I do in my MP3 today? Well I'll be doing that install here in a little bit, but I drove the MP3 down to the courthouse and was pleasantly surprised that I only had to pay $134 for that ticket I got a couple weeks ago. I put aside $250 to cover it, so now I basically have an extra $115 for mods! haha Now I just need to take one of those defensive driving classes to get rid of those 2 points so I can get back down to 0 again. :D

Those Dave B's are nice. I still have my originals in that I installed in 2004. They never fell out, even with my stiff-ass motor mounts.

Washed my car yesterday, and adjusted the volume on my sub-woofer.

Well I wish I could say the install last night went smoothly... Rust & corrosion I can deal with. All 4 heatshield bolts above the resonator were stripped. So I couldn't move it unless I wanted to grind off bolts and re thread s***, and to be honest, I didn't feel like it just to install a new shifter, lol. But that's no big deal, just had a little bit tighter clearance to remove the shifter bolt/bushings.

So on to the shift linkage bushing install. Urethane inserts were on in about 10 minutes; 8 minutes of it was prying the damn old bushing out. It took me a couple minutes to realize that the bushing is 1 piece, vs. the new Urethane bushing being 2 pieces. But the bronze oil bushings gave me real issues, especially in the front location by the transmission linkage. The 1 bushing was defective or something, and the bolt would not fit through it; it was off be several millimeters. After a couple hours of swearing and filing/sanding, cleaning, I finally conceded and used one of the old stock plastic bushings. I wish I had a grinder or dremel or something with me (I wasn't @ my house & I cursed myself for deciding not to bring my dremel with me). I spent a solid hour trying to file & sand that bolt sleeve down, but to no avail. Waiting to hear back from CorkSport after I emailed them this morning. We'll see what they say. Worse comes to worse I'll grind that bolt sleeve down and make it work.

Long story short: I set aside 1-2 hours to install that shifter and the bushings and it took me 3 hours and I didn't even complete the job. LOL, fml.

The shifter setup is still very nice and feels wayyy better now, tho. I wasn't sure how much I'd like that 3" shifter extension, but I think I like it a lot...

I am loving the new shifter. So much better, and I'm definitely digging the shifter extension. (2thumbs)

Now I just need to install a findanza lw flywheel, new clutch w/ a tranny swap next spring, and I'll b pretty happy with the drivetrain. :D

Things i have done to the MP3

New kumho tires, water pump, timming belt, rear caliper, new pads, interior taken out and cleaned, new spark plugs, new crank sensor, front and rear alignment, next will be the clutch and i will paint the racing hart's just deciding on the color. black with blue outer ring, bronze, gold, laser blue with black ring. opinions wanted feel free to give your two cents it's welcome.

Original owner bought feb,16th 2001

I vote for black with blue outter ring, not a fan of gold personally. One more reason for someone to think you're driving a subie IMO. I'll be doing midnight black (a lot of flake, looks dark grey) with yellow "racing hart"

wheels

I have my eye on these rims but i want them to match perfect or as close as possible. I am going to ask if they have a color sample so i can match up. If it is close enough i am d getting them i think it will look sick. As far as the subie thing i get that all the time ( dam thats a nice WRX dude) is what i usually hear @ a gas station or walmart then i correct them and they are like a Mp what still funny after nearly 10 yrs of it.

Has Rota fixed their problems with failing wheels? They have lightweight wheels for cheap. The only way they do that is cast aluminum (weak) and thin spokes. They look nice but depending on what type of driving you plan to do, I'd make sure you research them first.

Quick update on my car. Put the doors back together today. Car is painted, hood and front bumper painted and installed. Headlights buffed, tails painted/smoked and installed. Roof cap test fitted and trimmed. Rear bumper and front DG lip painted. Roof cap, rear bumper and front lip will be installed tomorrow. Hopefully roof cap will buff smooth, otherwise I'll have to have it re-cleared. Should be able to bring it home Sat, maybe tomorrow. Took some teaser pics but don't have time to load them now.

wheels

I did not know of any issues with rota wheels i will research it thanks for the heads up. I want to see the pics of your car sounds good put them up asap.
