What have you done to your Miata today?

Looks pretty good Andrew.
Hey in STS2 are you allowed to remove your lights?
Or can you atleast remove the barn door lids?

For cooling...

No or something like that would be done, trust me.

so you guys have to stick to popping them up then?
what about the turn lenses?

LOL wow. Here's an idea, let's try a different approach: if there were a legal allowance to do anything to get some more cool air under the hood, we and the rest of the ST / SP miata autocrossers would be ALLLLL over it. As it stands, we can't modify any of that. Headlights, turn signals, or anything else. Period. Not the bumper. Not the fender. Not the hood. Not the firewall. Nothing.

Looks good Andrew

Thanks!

So, in regards to the UDP: no, it has no harmonic damper. Hopefully it won't blow up right away ;). From what I've seen in doing my homework on this, all but 1 failure were on FI applications, and the 1 N/A failure was a serious high test motor. I think I'll be ok.

However, I've hit a bit of a snag... I have 2 UR pulleys (I got a freaking steal... better than 2 for 1 for brand new UR pulleys!) One fits the big nose crank my car has, only problem is it's for a 1.8. This is VERY similar to the 1.6 pulley, however the belts are different. IE, on the 1.6, the WP / Alternator are a V belt, and the power steering is a ribbed belt (for her pleasure?), while on the 1.8 pulley, they're both ribbed belts. The other pulley fits a 1.6 long-nose crank (the 'new' 91.5 fix, which the spare motor has), and has the right belt types for my accessories, however it doesn't fit over the crank. Oy...
Here are some pics
Here is the washer from the big-nose pulley over the hole in the long-nose pulley for a size comparisson.

The one on the left is the long-nose (which doesn't fit), and the right is the big nose (which fits, but the belts aren't the right type...)

Here is the UR big-nose pulley on top of the stock big-nose crank for size comparison.

So I had an idea, and I have no idea how stupid it is... so please tell me so I stfu if it's retarded.
How dumb would it be to run the accessory belt upside down? It seems like in my head it would work, but I have no idea how susceptible to it, oh I don't know... completely coming undone... it would be.

Upside down V belt on ribbed pulley

There's a little gap there, but maybe I could find a wider V belt? Only problem is that then it definitely wouldn't fit the accessories

Any ideas? Or is this going to be one of those "Wait til you get the new engine in and put the right pulley on" situations?

You can always swap the WP pully and alternator.

Spring clean meet this past weekend. While I was working on other cars, couple of guys washed, clayed and waxed mine.

Dodged a bullet today. Remounting 1 of the stock pulley, I managed to shear a bolt. Damn thing wasn't even all the way in yet. WTF? it was all going smoothly then *plink!* Anyway, after swearing up a storm and throwing a couple wrenches (I haven't been that mad at breaking something in a WHILE) I pulled the radiator so I could have some room, drilled the bolt out some (it sheared @ the hole on the timing pulley...), then used an easy out to pull it out. Oddly enough, that part went REALLY easily. Buttoned everything back up with some extra bolts I had layin around and went for a drive. She seems to be in good shape, and all is well in the world :)

EDIT: Bruce, the MX5 (she have a name yet?) looks great! What wheels are those?

Had fun trying to retrofit my RB intake, to a RX7 AMF I had, as well as trying to make everything fit with my old RSpeed strut tower brace.

Eventually I left the 1.6 AFM on, and wired up the elbow for now (ran out of daylight).

Going to eventually take the tower brace off, and just go with the Boss Frog braces.(evil)

Erroneous. You can swap bumper covers.

Happy you got the bolt out. Nothing worse than the sinking feeling when a bolt shears off.

My wife calls her "Mia"

The rims are Team Dynamic Pro Race 1. I had them on the yellow P5 before I switched to the Rota's. Repainted them for Mia. 17x7 50mm offset and 15lbs. Wasn't crazy about them at first but they are starting to grow on me.

Even replacing the bumper cover wouldn't do much for that. There's a bunch of crap between it and the intake lol
What would you even swap it with? You have to use the stock parts. So I fail to see how it would do anything except waste time.

No joke. I haven't sworn that much because of a car in a long while. I wasn't very happy lol. But yeah, I'm just happy I got that sucker out :)

Cool. Funny story: I have wheels that were on an MX5 on my P5. Little cross-ways action going on there haha

My brother found the bolt head laying around the garage yesterday. The damn thing wasn't even sheared, it just broke. What a sack of crap lol

havent done anything to it yet....but just bought one yesterday!!!
