What have you done to your Miata today?

Ha, funny.
Im just tired of having to drive it every single day. I could just buy a POS daily, but I dont want to daily a cheap POS after driving a nicely equipped miata every day.

4K wont buy it though... I have it up for 9K expecting to get 8K. Thats what blue book is and considering I have $2,000 worth of parts on it (I know you dont get that back) I think its a fair deal. If nobody take it that way, I am going to take the bar off, raise it up, take off the lip,and try selling it that way

Drove around for a good hour today, cruised next to this guy for a while. 550 pininfarina. Great exhaust note.

I pulled off the speedo cable. Won't be needing that anymore. Anyone know if I need to keep any part of it (the threaded bit for example?) or is it fine to leave that part of the trans uncovered? Maybe I need to find a big fitting that'll thread on... thoughts?

I'd keep it sealed up to avoid splashing trans oil around the tunnel and potentially on the exhaust.

Developed an odd noise yesterday

While engine braking, i hear a sound something like a belt squeal/chirpping sound. Only does it while engine braking though, no noise under load or while revving (mainly in 2nd and when i apply any throttle it goes away)

I can't pinpoint the sound if it's belt noise or trans or clutch (I don't know what would make a chirping sound) I'll try to get gopro video of the sound tonight

Any thoughts or ideas?

I turned mine on for a few minutes, make sure the battery didn't die (too lazy to take it out again and put it on the charger). Have to wait till next week for another garage to be available.

Maff, I agree about sealing up the speedo cable hole.

Bought myself a vise on Saturday so finally fabbed up a bracket to mount my MS in the factory location:

Painted it up, will install tomorrow.

Installed my visor blanking plates today, it took them a week to ship for some reason. Gives me that extra field of view at the top of the windshield. I had refrained from buying them sooner as I know my wife sometimes used the visors, but she said it was no big deal for her.

cleaned of some nice bird droppings that was conveniently located on the door handle. luckily i noticed it before I grabbed the handle.

MS bracket didn't quite do the trick so I'm working on V2.

I have decided to keep the MSM, and since the red wheels will be harder to sell I decided to keep them and sell the RacingHarts. If anybody is interested in them let me know.

Bump

Also i get a sqeaking sound in reverse now. Could be motor mounts? I read on a toyota forum one guy had a similar sound and it was the crank pulley coming loose but i can't find anything similiar on miata searches

Reach your hand down and see if the crank pulley bolt is lose?

I went to do the first timing belt job on mine and the crank pulley bolt spun out by hand... it happens.

MS version 2 bracket is a winner:

Time for some more paint, installation will be tomorrow.

Mine is actually a Reverant built unit.

Question for you MSM guys, do you know the size of the hose used to connect to that oil separator unit you have stock? I'm looking at getting the check valve FM has for that use and using it as a PCV valve instead.

With the driver's weight in the car, set the cross weights:

Perfection!

And, slightly less important but still very good, F/R:
