I have been putting off changing my oil. Checked my oil this morning when I filled with gas. Was shocked to find sludge. This is after 4500 miles if that. So I went to a lube shop and the guy also told me the same thing. Why is this?
So Doc, is it safe to assume you aren't selling it?
Besides, I think that stacking a 4-pile of slicks next to the car probably isn't the best sales pitch anyway...(nana)
Unless you made the extra effort to flush the oil out of the turbo during your last oil change, it's very likely you've got oil that's been in circulation for 7,000+ miles. Using synthetic on a non-turbo car you can get away with that mileage. However, the temperatures that oil is put through on a turbocharged engine are much higher.
(lol) Yea thats dirt. Gunna make sure to start checking mine. -.-
I see. That makes sense. I think the guy that changed my oil last didn't drain the oil completely. I had about 1/2 a qt left (out of 6). Anyway I guess ill be changing oil every 3K instead of 4 . . .

Also make sure that the car has been sitting for a good while so the oil will drain out of the top end of the engine and down into the pan. It can take an hour or more sometimes to get it to fully drain down into the pan.
Car has autoX'd for about 6 total mins![]()
I can say this...with the few mods I have this is a whole new car and if I don't sell it I'll be a happy guy. I'll just pick up something to drive on sunny days.Car has been tracked once, came across a deal on those slicks I couldn't pass up. If I have the car in a month I'll autoX it again. I'll add brakes and maybe springs. I can't believe the difference in this car.
Don't think thats possible for me. I can't change my own oil since I don't have a garage.
UNLESS you make the claim that it's never been tracked and use the banded slicks as evidence!![]()
whats wrong with the driveway? or some old abandoned road? You dont have to lift a car to drain the oil
Its just a hassle without a garage. Would end up taking me 3X as long while getting dirty. So I guess its possible but its just not probable. Car has to be lifted to drain the oil. Not by a hydraulic lift but at least jacked up.
Anyone know of a cheap place to pick up the Mazda OEM cabin air filter? Last time I used a Wix filter and didn't fit quite right. I'd like to change that here soon.
Going to go wash the car and clean the interior. Enjoying birthday day off.
