What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

im not accusing him of anything?? but, he wasnt answering any questions or posting info.. he was just talking.. like i said a tire pro-opinion would be better than just an opinion.. Ive been through this with a dozen or so tire techs.. and all have different answers.. but, at least theyre open to the idea of what im saying.. you guys just seem to assume you couldnt ever be wrong?? and thats not cool.. no ones right every time? no one..

ok well just to prove my point.. ill go downstairs and get all the tools i need.. i have them all since im opening up a shop.. my car isnt running right now so ill go get both sets of 215's i have and measure them both.. post pictures of my measurements and how its done.. then we will see who's right and who's wrong.. id be willing to bet its going to be 100% me.

and ill accept the results!! i dont mind being proven wrong.. its happened before and itll happen again.. im here to learn and thats how it happens.. trial and error.. hard work and making mistakes!!

And Thanks for the EFFORT!! i thought i was the only one willing to got outside and check..

im getting my IM ported soon so take will be pc later, i have modified corksport fmic

have any more pics of it. i have the corksport modified as well and just curious how you did yours. i know block8head did too and his looks similar to how yours is unless he sold his to you.

@BoostedSpd6 and Markspd6

It is true that tires will not be exactly the same width, but they will be extremely close. If you use a fine measurement caliper you'll see a very small tolerance in how the tire was manufactured. However, you will not see more than tenths of a millimeter difference. That may be what the tire techs were talking about that misled you, Mark. In the end, Steve and Boosted are correct in that the lip that protects your rim in the event of curbing or a flat does not affect the tire tread's overall width. Though it can be deceiving to the eye.

ok.. so were sure theres absolutely no possibility that the number 215 is an interior tube size measurement?? relating to the wheel itself not the rubber outer wall because that would answer every question here? the inside measurement doesnt have to have anything to do with the outside wall.. think about it for a minute please??

and the pic is a little unclear.. but that little lip is basically the size of the whole tire.. it barely sticks out..

and i sent boosted a pm for his efforts.. they will be appreciated, and ill accept his opinion here.. so were cool either way.. i can handle being wrong..

Interior tube? Most tires today are tubeless.

Please take the time to read (or re-read) my post from Tire Rack.

ok so getting off this argument/ subject.. i painted my throttle body to match the valve cover today.. looks damn good.. pics next week. its so easy to take it apart and clean now with the coolant bypass done. 10 minutes to take it out and clean it every oil change.

that would be a good thing to learn.. ive never done the throttle body on this car yet it.. I think it was hard to get to? how gunked up was it in their??

it is his. he went with a custom side to side.

it wasent too bad.. ive seen worse, but ive also seen better.. the bypass is easy..its hard to explain without showing pics but ill post them up.. im going to make a how to on it since it really is easy.

once the coolant bypass is done youd only have to unbolt your coupler and take out the 4 bolts on the throttle body, and disconnect the connector if you have a fmic setup..

if your stock and youve done the bypass youd have to unbolt ur intercooler and cold pipe and then do what i said above.. makes it much easier to clean.

If you would take even a few minutes to do a simple search....

The key to remember in the tire size debate is that the TREAD width WILL vary within several different brands of tires in the exact same indicated size, but the overall SECTION width will be within a tiny fraction the same. Many DOT rated race tires have a wider tread width than the same size in a "street" oriented all-season tire.

Also note that you can easily calculate ANY new tire diameter to +/- ~1mm.

(((Section width in mm x aspect ratio in decimal) x 2) / 25.4) + wheel diameter in inches = tire OD"

Example: A given tire size of 225/45x18 has an outside diameter of 25.972"

225 x 0.45 = 101.25 x 2 = 202.5 / 25.4 = 7.972" + 18" = 25.972"

The OEM tire size of 215/45x18 is 25.618" so the 225/45x18 tire is 9mm larger OD and ~ 10mm wider.

These are the facts. You can take it or leave it, but FACTS remain the same.

Anyway, here are a few sites that may help yous "learn" sumpin.... Good luck!

Maybe you trust Wiki? http://www.tiresizecalculator.info/

Don't take something so simple, with so much factual data so easily available and turn it into an "idiot" debate.

Mark i hope his post makes you understand what were talking about.. i was going to post something simliar to what he did tomorrow. but now i dont have to do as much work. woot!!

Forzda, glad you came in to shed more light on this. Hopefully Mark will take the clue and read up.

I'll post up some pics I've taken recently of the car. I hope to run the new DA on it and I'll try to do some B&A pics. I noticed today how filthy my interior is. I really need to start there.
