What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Has the Brembo package with the upgraded 19" wheels. It's dark blue. And I didn't have to hop the fence, it was parked in the back.

he said girlfriends brother haha

lol. yeah. it's even better cuz now I'll probably be able to get him in the picture with the (SLOWLY) "traveling mazda flag"

edit: bought a RMM and Denso Iridium 1 Step Colder Plugs. Since I recently hit the 70k mark (:-O) I figure it's about that time for the "tune-up"

oh s*** hahaha didnt see that. well hope he enjoys it.

lets see i almost got my mirror taken off by a 1500 truck... seriously if you cant park the truck mommy and daddy got you, you dont need it. get a damn tacoma or something if you really want a truck.

Haha, nice creeping on the new car Steve. I wonder if the dealership will recognize you from their security footage.

On a side note for "what I did to my car" was I noticed some vibration at highway speed. I'm hoping maybe just one of the wheels has come out of balance, because when I paid close attention it is slightly noticeable at lower speeds too, a rhythmic... not a thump, but a small bump maybe. Anything I should be too concerned about? Might have come out of alignment a bit?

Lurking in the dealer lot....

Ughhhhh, I'm jealous!!!!

Oj: Sounds like more of a balance thing, it wouldn't be alignment, that would be a pull to L or R.

Steve, we'll all miss ya bud, I haven't been on here long but have read many a thread w/useful info you've provided. I love the stang also, nice choice.

I got my CPE rear diff mount and the TT brace installed, feels like a whole new car, very solid. Mazda quoted me $900, I had a guy back home do it for $370 and that was replacing some bolts.

I went last night and checked out all the new GT's at the dealership. The interiors are VERY nice. There was a red one with a sport package. It looked like the dash had carbon fiber or something on it. The seats are rediculous. I wouldnt mind having one. But the price tag is a little steep.

On to my car. I did some editing on my map in ATR last night. I turned up the load values in each gear. The car has a nice gain in torque now. I can hit the gas and the car pulls pretty good without even going into boost. Which I like since I would go right into boost and not even be pulling hard at all before.

Thanks jdw, I'll get it sorted out. I'm hoping it is just the balance.

Also that's great to hear about your CP-E/TT combo. I have those same parts sitting in my basement right now and as soon as I can find a shop in my new area who looks like they can handle it without charging an arm and a leg, I'll get them on too. Does it feel much more solid from a standing start, and is there any different feel with a typical (not aggressive) start?

Well the feel for me is so much better due to my stock mount being cracked in half for who knows how long but I can definitely say the feel whether normal or aggressive take off's it feels stronger and smoother, no where near as jerkey just squat and go. Mine may be more dramatic due to my stocker being in such bad shape but it just seems like power is getting to the rear wheels better/easier now. The guy back home(I've known for years, back home is just 1.5hrs away now) said with that mount and brace the rear end would go before those two gave way so I'm not worried about the diff at all any more, one less thing right.

Also guys, I posted up a question on the Cobb discussion thread I need a little help w/if any one can it would be greatly appreciated.

so last night before my local club meet i warshed the car and did a bit of prep for track tomorrow.

my exhaust rattle is due to the tips clicking up against this odd metal crease point/edge that is just above it.
the stock hangers are so soft that both tips slap those metal edges when i hit bumps/accel hard, or take fast turns... disconcerting when tracking.
as a temp fix, i got some heat wrap and secured it around the tips so no more metal rattling against metal noises. (it still hits ofc)
perm solution will be upgraded hangers to hold the exhuast in place better in the near future.

checked oil, rotated tires, checked brakes, packed my track day gear, emptied out unnecessary loose articles ahead of time, checked lines/hoses/electrical for any signs of visible wear. So far it looks like im 100% to track tomorrow!!! Woot.

Sounds like you looked at the Cal Special if the seats had a CF appearance.

lost out on my winter beater today.... they found someone willing to pay twice the amount i was while i was arrainging to get it on a hoist to have it checked out..... :( oh well, they may have a new one comming in next week for me... and this one will be a mazda :)

Changed my oil and ordered up a set of ITV22s. I hope my RMM and STS arrive tomorrow for a Saturday installation...

theres a metal lip that runs across the rear bumper, right above the exhaust tips... you need to cut/bend this out of the way

I'm going back and forth on whether or not to purchase an extended warranty through my local dealer. Does anyone have experience with these? It would be a 4yr/75K mile term and cost probably around $1500. Any thoughts?

I'm doing the same thing right now. It's probably a good idea to get the Mazda plan (MEPP), because that's going to work at any Mazda dealership. I was quoted about $1500 to extend my factory bumper-to-bumper to 10y/60K miles with a $100 deductible. Those numbers fit with the mileage on the car (the first owner didn't drive it a lot), but 7/60 is more reasonable with how I'm driving it. The one thing I didn't like about it is that any engine damage due to preignition isn't covered, no matter what the cause is...since the DISI engine keeps blowing due to that it makes me worry a bit about them having an out. The turbo is covered under this, but apparently isn't in the drivetrain warranty; my car is one of the last ones, so in theory it should be in good shape, but I've smelled a bit of oil/gas after parking a couple of times.

I have always bought used cars long after the factory warranty ran out, this is the first car I've had that was nice enough to consider keeping the warranty around. I'm going back and forth right now over it...if I keep the warranty then I can't do as many things to the car, but one big repair will cost more than the extended warranty coverage. I intend to keep the car for a few years at least, and I can cover pretty much anything that might go wrong with it, so I'm trying to figure out if the warranty is really worth it or not.

My car will officially be for sale next week. Going to test drive my secret weapon monday morning. I will just say it has a V8 and 6 speed transmission. :D
