What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

You can take boy-racer, but I'll take plowing through the Colorado Snow like it isn't there lol. And AWD launches FTW!

Seriously, they're both good cars, just aimed at a different audience. I can't see myself in an MS3 just because I'm 44 and looking for something more refined. But in 3 years, I'll have traded the MS6 on a used 2011 5.0 Mustang GT anyway and use our Jeep for snow. :)

no need for AWD in FL. (unless you want to launch) i want the ms3 mainly because it will be cheaper in pretty much every way.

1) More people have them so getting parts used will be easier.
2) the aftermarket is stronger for the ms3.
3) tires will last longer
4) gas will be cheaper
5) less weight

yea i give up awd for fwd but hey, im willing to take that hit

oh and the ms3 interior is awesome.

Yeah, you don't really need AWD down there, and aftermarket support is MUCH better for the MS3 than the MS6. That's a drawback to the MS6 being a more limited run vehicle. MS3 is lighter, and tires definitely go fast on an AWD car. My Eagle GTs are ready to be replaced a year after I got them...and I'm still gonna wait until November. Ride em to the cords!

I've driven regular 3s, and another factor that steers me away is that to me, a 6'1" tall guy, they feel a little squeezed.

oh yea and i dont really want a red car lol

and yes rolling on cords over here also lol

I drove a 3s before getting my MS6. I love how roomy the MS6 is compared to the 3. That was a big selling point for me. Plus, passengers are more comfortable in the back. Plus everything looks classier. I'm only 23, but honestly I can't stand much of the boy racer tuner crowd. I don't want to be lumped in with them.

lol. well im 17. im not skinny but i think the 3 is the perfect size. most of the local 3 owners arent really the boy ricer crowd so i think ill be good.

oh and my passengers?? screw em there in my car as long as im comfortable im fine, haha

I drove both before I settled on the MS6, and, AWD or not, it's still a better, more refined car IMO. If you're not going to track it, for the every day comfort and ability to still go full tilt, the MS6 is in a very small class. The MS3 falls into that bigger "hot hatch" category, which is so muddled, you don't get to appreciate them as much.

I'd go with the MS6 GT and nav if you're looking to buy one used. That's the only things I'd change with mine if I had to go back.

I've driven the MS3 plenty of times. It's a great car, don't get me wrong, but the sedan still just plays to me more. And trust me, boy racer gets old REALLY fast. Flying under the radar for plenty of things (ricers, cops, etc.) is a much better feeling.

Don't think the MS6 is as big a tire-eater as you make it out to be. A set of ABJs on the front will help cure that. If you lower it, you can dial the camber back out and keep them rolling fine.

Yeah, the Speed6 is DEFINITELY a sleeper, at least in every color but VRM. I barely get looks from cops any more, but in my Redfire Metallic 6S, they were all over me. And with the "Mazdaspeed" emblem off the back, very few boy racers messing with me, either.

No one messes w/me at all...(whistle)

LOL I used to get a lot of kids in SRT-4s, Cobalt SSs, and Hondas trying to race me. Since removing the emblem, those have dropped almost completely off the charts. Now, for some reason, redneck 4X4s mess with me all the time. WTF?

yea i dont think anyone ricer around here is smart enough to know what mazdaspeed is.

probably think its a name i made up or something haha

anyone know how the **** to remove that stupid ******* plastic white clip with the black plastic threaded post at the end of the outer taillight assemblies in the MS6? ******* thing sucks, nothing I ever do ever goes ******* smoothly goddammit.

Well, uhm, if you take that screw out from the other side, the little white "nut" will come right out. You CAN'T get it out from the side you're looking at in the photo.....

Yea. Nothing like that has to be removd when pulling the tail light. On the outer ones its just 2 10mm bolts. The it slides right out.

I finally figured that out... should have just looked at the other taillights and seen that cradle molded in... I'm a dumbass. anywhere, got them installed, not sure if I like them, I'll need a week or two to decide if I'm gonna sell them or not

Changed my oil, rear diff, and tranny fluids yesterday and today. Strangely enough, I had never changed my own oil until yesterday. I've done brake jobs, wheel bearings, intake work, clutch cylinders, etc., but I had never changed my own oil. I think I'll do it myself from now on. 6 quarts of Mobil 1 10w-40 and the Fram cartridge was only $35 or so at Wally World. Not too bad.

I was going to do the PTO as well, but I didn't have anything to get at the bolt on the fill opening. I gotta pick up a 24mm socket and do that one next weekend.

For some reason my wife gets all the people wanting to race her in the Speed while I'm gone. No one ever tries it with me. I haven't asked her if it's the same when she's in the 8.

where did you get the oil cap wrench? I need to change my oil, but the oil cap wrenches for my mazda 3 were garbage and wouldn't grab hold... had to use my dad's universal one meant for the spin-on filters. why oh why did mazda choose the cartridge type?

Finally finished wiring my boost gauge thanks to help from block8head. Looks and works great. I'll take pictures later tonight.
