What have you done to your Mazda3 today?

Loved that back-pedal ya' did there, jeans!! :D :D :D

how exactly did i back pedal, i gave him a bit of advice in "brakes are only as good as your tires" and merely asked a question about the abs or lack thereof because i know that my buddies 06 i does not have abs.... you showed me evidence that the 10 i comes with abs so that suggestion was no longer viable...

Y'know the extra weight of those wheels and tires are liable to make the car feel a bit more sluggish as well. You are on 16's now so that's a Plus 2 size.

and yea what he said, those wheels weigh ~24-25lbs each where as your stock wheels weigh around ~17lbs so your gaining ~7-8lbs per wheel + the added weight of the tire... it could def. feel more sluggish after installing those wheels

however sizing up doesnt always mean more weight... ive got a buddy with 19's that weigh less than his stock 17's did

HEy guys, I have an MS3 but I'm getting rid of it this weekend. There's an '04 MZ3 sedan for sale locally that I'm probably gonna take a look at. Anything I should look out for? I asked on ************, but no one feels like helping apparently.

Thanks.

EDIT:
Little bit of research. I'm seeing some rust issues on the '04's. I live in Nebraska and they do salt the streets in winter, however the car I'm interested in is a California car. This will be it's first winter in NE.
Is this something that would turn you away from it? IS it that big of a problem? I know things online tend to get amplified...

My mom has an '04 MPV and it started developing rust inside the front doors, around the seams...

Yeah, CARB stds, or whatever its called.
Any California emissions car is going to be hard to repair outside the state and expensive. They have emission control systems that are specific to California.

I wondered about that. Any way to tell if it's CARB or not?

Well TheJeans. what would you recommend? I'm trying to find a good looking wheel but doesn't weigh a whole lot either. Any advice would be very helpful.

This last statement is def true! Go with a skinnier wheel if you can. And while wider tires look cool, they are not always necessary, nor do they always have the desired affect. Wider tires were necessary for good performance back in the biased ply days, but radials are different.
For example, when driving in bad weather, such as snow, you WANT the skinniest tire you can put on the car for a longer patch. A wider patch under those conditions CAN put you off the road in a ditch.
Choose some 18's (or 17's) that are at least as light as the 17" OE's, about 19 lbs ea... or less. Remember the tires themselves will weigh more as well.

ok so back to my first statement....
As for your first statement in that post (jeans,) I think the highlighted quote above says it all. But please... I am only messin' with ya'. No need to get all defensive. You Pittsburgh boys are SO DEFENSIVE!! :D:D :D

Check under the hood for clues. The stickers under there should say it all.

hey man, buy whatever wheels you want, i was just giving you a heads up that the added weight will slightly hinder the performance (from my own experience)
i wasnt trying to tell you not to get them, if those are the style of wheels you want and can get them at the price you want, then by all means go for it

i rocked a set of 18x8's that weighed around 24lbs and going to a set of 17x8's that only weigh 16lbs i can def. tell a little bit of a difference i was just trying to give you a heads up so you knew what to expect after putting the new wheels on

'Shoulda' known that going in.
I ordered two kits... a 55w, 6k for the low beams and a 35w, 5k for the fogs. The first one (no longer remember which) took a week and a half. The second took closer to three weeks.
They are slow, but its worth the wait. 3 yrs so far and no problems.

Hmm.. Well I will definitely keep that in mind and go with 17x8. Thank you sir!

I too live in Nebraska and I have an '04 Mazda 3 5-door that just recently turned 157,000 miles (mostly on I-80 driving back and forth daily from Lincoln to Omaha). Just this spring I started to see some rust issues arising. I have some bubbling surface rust starting on the front side of the passenger-side rear door, right by the window. There is also some bubbling up (that has already cracked the paint) on the front edge of the hood, right along the inside of the passenger-side headlight. The car is always garaged at home but it DOES have 157k miles on it and has been driven every winter since new. GREAT car!! The ONLY car I've ever owned that I would buy again in an instant.

FINALLY took off the old chrome emblems ("Mazda", 3, 2.3's, and rear "flying M") and put on my three modified, two-toned (black/chrome), emblems on the rear hatch. (Left the 2.3's off the doors)

Also tried removing the side moldings and started with the driver's side door, but with 7 years and 157,000 miles on the car, I couldn't get rid of the ridge/image of where the adhesive was. I buffed and buffed but you could still see the image. Looked stupid, so I decided it was best just to leave it on and reattached the molding with new 3M tape. Wish I wouldn't have waited so long to remove it! Oh well! Learn from my mistake!

Clay bared my 07 True Red hatch today. Holy s***. What a difference. I need to wash it to fully see. But its smooth as glass.

I need to wax my car, it's just damn hot outside to do it. Once it cools off I will be washing her and giving her two coats of wax. But I just took her for a quick spin a bit ago.

Idk bout you guys but my DDM tuning HIDS came in the mail in like 4 days. Took like 2 days to ship too. I beleive there out of San Diego....

I ordered mine from retro source, ordered them last week (Tuesday) so they should have been here, but they were back ordered, they are shipping today, I think? =p
