Replaced a strangely broken kitchen faucet. The gooseneck portion of it rusted right in half! Used a really nice Brizo faucet we got last summer at the HFH ReStore for dirt cheap. Looks nice and shouldn't rot out for at least, oh I don't know, six months LOL
put new lights on the porch, i personally didnt like the old lights (on the left) not only were they kinda ugly and not my style, but they were too bright. light up my front porch, the street in front of my house and half of my neighbors yard and part of their front house. it was too much. saw the new ones on sale, ended up running me me less than 50 bucks so a pretty cheap/easy fix but looks substantially better haha
Built 2" foam boxes to go over the recessed lights.. one of which is right under the roof. Man did installing those suck. had lose fiberglass fill glued to my hands with great stuff, sweating like a pig in the attic. Couldn't be happier that that project is over with. May need to upgrade bulbs though, 6x 4w LEDs is borderline for the space.
and i finally finished the porch the beginning of November just didnt get a chance to share til now... here is the before and after

(still need to install my new white plastic lattice under the porch but im going to wait til spring, and knock that and landscaping out the same weekend)
All tong and groove, solid wood. No pocket screws or cheating.
Had to make the draws twice before I got the size right.
And made each and every top piece to the exact thickness so there was no gaps at all, then glued them to 10-12" sections so they would fit through the planer.
We just had a front patio and curbing poured in the front to help divert water when we get flash flooding. Six months after moving into the house we awoke to 4" of water in the basement and had a french drain system installed. Since then, we have had no water in the basement but with flash flooding the water runs down the driveway right to the house and if it gets high enough it will actually pour in over top of the foundation. The front wall of the basement looks like a waterfall. Thankfully the water runs right into the drainage system. The water never reached the top of our old stoop, which was 7" above ground. Our thinking is not only does it look good but it will keep the water away from the foundation. Should the water level rise above 7", well we have bigger things to worry about then. Over the Winter we are going to come up with a plan for landscaping and lighting.
What we want to prevent (this was last July due to garbage cans clogging the drains at the end of the block - it took 15 minutes for this to happen and after the blockage was cleared about 10 minutes for it to dissipate):
Thanks! TBH though, I'd prefer to never find out if it solves the problem. lol It is money well spent though because the wife and I will be able to breathe a little easier during Hurricane season. That alone is worth the cost.
