What have you done to your CX-5 today?

30000. I clean the intake every 5000 or so and I do the rest while its exposed. When i say tb i really mean just the throttle plate area.

What did the throttle plate have on it? I would think the air filter would remove anything big enough to make it dirty?

I also changed out the interior and license plate halogen bulbs with 6k LEDs. I was worried 6k might be too 'white' however I'm very pleased with my choice. 6K gives the whitest of whites without any bluish tint. For the license plate bulb I went with the dimmest LED I could find. I didn't want a bright light that draws too much attention.

We have opposite opinions on lighting ha, I like having really bright license plate bulbs because it draws attention and I think it helps me be seen more easily at night. They face straight down so the light shines down onto the ground and shouldn't bother other drivers in a negative way.
For interior lights, I prefer the softer lights because I don't want to feel like I have a spotlight on me. I also think night visibility would be much worse if a passenger turned on a bright LED light while I was driving, whereas the softer lights aren't as bad.
To each their own of course, I think it's great that people have different preferences.

It just had a thin soot ring around the plate where it actuated. Probably mostly pvc. I would compare it to a dry water stain ring left by a cup on a glass table.

Added two LED lights to my cargo area (only left side pictured).
Added two set's of blue LED lights in front foot well area (only driver side pictured).
Hacked info center screen to show my Spartans.

I'm only supplying picture links because the pics were HUGE.

More info on how you wired up the footwell lights. I had a similar thing going on in my Protege5 where I had red leds that would light up when the doors opened and then fade to off when the door closed, would love something like that in the CX-5

Okay everyone.

The hatch lights were wired into the dome light on the lift gate. Rather simple process to run the wire. I do triathlons, which mean I'm at race start around 530am. I need the extra light.

The foot well lights were wired into the dome/map lights by the rear view mirror. Running the wire down to the foot wells took some 'fishing' and patience. Also very tight quarters down there. I used blue light because 1. It's not bright, but bright enough to see things down there. 2. Looks cool.

I wired the lights into the dome lights so they turn on/off in the same manner as dome. I did switch out all interior lights with LED lights, so that cuts down on the heat.

The info screen hack was from this thread I started (see below). Somebody gave me a link to another site. It was stupid easy. Create a picture (there is a photoshop template so you can see what it looks like prior). Save the code and picture to a flash drive. Plug into car. Turn on. Wait 1 minute. I also did the code to remove the safety speed feature. Thus I can use the touch screen while driving.

That's likely a side effect of whatever tunes you've been running. My throttle plate looks surgically clean.
Can't speak for the 2.5 becase I had it tuned within the first week. However on my 2.0 I had a similar soot ring before I was tuned and I'm sure before I put the intake on. I'd say its a side affect of high rpm and wot/redline shifting than the tune by itself. While you get +30mpg was averaging about 22 in my 2.0.

It sounds like you had more WOT than I did but I don't hesitate to wrap the engine out if I need more power than is available between 200-4000 rpm's. Still no black soot, maybe the fuel in Texas is not as clean.

Did some cleaning, does the rubber piece in the center console in front of the gear selector come out? I know the ones in the doors do? I tried tugging on it and it's pretty snug? Didn't want to rip it out if it's in there perminetly?

15k service, but I only have 14.250 miles. $57.
Ordered the parts, for the pedal shifters. Oemmazdaparts

In addition to the LED interior lights, LED footwell lights, additional LED cargo area lights and the INFO Center hack (See my post above), I finally installed these LED Fog light covers. I bought them off Ebay. Ridiculously easy to install since they come with everything. One wire to fuse box, one to ground and one to battery. The relay box I received was a dud so seller sent a new one asap. Link to picture because if I post it here it's a huge picture. I really think these look sharp. I do wish I had LED fog lights to match since the OEM fog lights (I have a 2016) have a yellowish tint. Are there other options for lights? Do they work as well?

Chris, I really like the tail lights on the left. Do you know where I could purchase them?

New CX-5 owner here! Got mine in black and would like advice for what I should do to protect the car long term. I know nothing about cars. Would also like advice to get the car polish or wax to be shinier. Reading this forum is what made me pull the trigger to purchase my very first Mazda!

Welcome! The lights are here, $299 shipped from this seller. BMW Style Lights

If you search "CX-5 LED Tail Lights" or CX-5 LED Tail Lights BMW" You will see many other styles as well. Some of those lights will require connecting into the 3rd brake light wiring so that the light gets brighter when the brake is pressed. Not a big deal, it literally consists of connecting the two wires together with a little clamp.
I'm not very knowledgeable on paint. I'm sure someone else will help.
