What happened to Sterling?

Anyone know what happened to Sterling Mazda in Woodhaven, and maybe in Sterling Heights? My dad said something about stopping by today to get some parts for our Millenia, and all of the cars were moved off of the front parking lot, and noone around. I hadn't heard anything about them going out of business or closing that location, but maybe. Anyone confirm this?

i dunno about that....

**begin rant**

i took my p5 up to the one in sterling heights once to have it looked at cuz it was making a funky rattling noise at about 2500rpm. they replaced a sensor...a 240 dollar sensor...gave the keys back to me. i made it about a 1/4 of the way out of the lot when i realized they didn't fix a damn thing. the techs took another look at it, and supposedly "replaced" my exhaust manifold heat shield and called it "even." it did fix it...and according to my service rep explaining things, the heat shield costs about that much money anyway. yeah.......right......a 240 dollar piece of metal?? Quote "Be glad you don't own a rx8...those cost about 7-800." i was pissed anyway, and i had to leave, so i just left it at that. when i get home to check things out...the f'ers stole my heat shield and didn't replace a damn thing!!

**end rant***

so basically, if they go down....well, thats there own damn fault.

I agree. I bought my car at Sesi because Yunes (or however you spell it) sold the MSP that I had verbally committed to, then was too damn lazy to help me find another 5 speed ES. I didn't even have to do anything other than call Sesi with an interest for Teri (great salesperson) to find 2 for me and have them on their way, no committment required.

I then tried to get them to service the seat rattle that I have not been able to get rid of. Their 20 year old service manager basically told me that I had removed the seat from the vehicle at some point, and that my front seats were out of warranty. The whole service staff at the Woodhaven location had to be under 25, and were a bunch of arrogant pricks.

As for the Sterling Heights location, I have no idea whats going on with them. I liked the convienence of the dealer just down the street, but I never went there because they were terrible.

That one isnt even listed on the main Mazda website anymore, I took mine to Cook mazda in Farmington hills

since we're all here, and for future reference, which dealerships around the detroit area can be trusted? any good experiences?? just wondering.

I might just start a new thread with that as the title, and see about getting it stickied. I was thinking the same thing after we started discussing this.

She sold me my 3, too. No complaints with the sales department but I've had a run-in or two with the service department. Nothing huge but enough to leave a little bad taste in my mouth. I still go back there for warranty work, though.

Yeah she was awesome, not bad too look at either. I would recommend her or go back if I decide to get another Mazda in the future.

i took my MSP to the sterling heights location to get the bushings replaced, ECU reflashed, and the oil changed, upon leaving the car 'felt' like it was pulling harder, but after really driving it for a little while it was no different, was merely in my head that it was faster... well it had sat in my garage for about a week and when i went to drive it i noticed a small puddle of oil underneath, this is a brand new car, why would there be a puddle of oil under it? especially since it never leaked before... i check everything over from the top of the engine bay, nothing, so i jack up the car to check the oil pan, grab the oil pan bolt and 4 full turns later i had it finger tight, they had forgotten to tighten the oil pan bolt, now keep in mind i live in lansing, thats a good hr and a half drive for me with a LOOSE oil pan bolt, thank god it barely leaked any oil out so there was no chance of damage, but im sure you can all imagine just how upset i would have been had the bolt fallen out on my way home... needless to say i will never go back there, about the only thing that was fixed is the bushings, and who knows, they might have even just re-installed the bushings that start to squeek again instead of the upgraded ones...

and the service guy also played a lot of those games with me, "you touched this so its not under warranty anymore" blah blah blah, refused to warranty my blown sub, told me a bunch of other bulls***, not to mention i was sitting in the waiting room for like 5-6hrs for them to reflash the ecu, do an oil change, and replace the bushings, in my garage i could do all that in an hr... which really isn't that big of a deal, but i told the guy that if it was going to take longer than an hour or 2 that i'd like a loaner car for the afternoon so i didn't have to sit around the dealership, he assured me it would take no time at all...

I tend to like Sterling Mazda, but I have never been to service there, I do all my own work, I dont like other ass hole touching my ride, every dealer is a pain in the ass. IMO if you want someone that will do it right though take your mazdas to Stu Evens Lincoln Mercury dealer on Hall Rd. I bought my Mazda from Stu Evens Mazda 5 years ago, they are no longer there now, but I was going to the lincoln dealer for oil changes when I first got the car and they are very nice, even open on Sat.

you can't bring MS proteges to a lincoln dealership, they wouldn't cover the warranty work, and on top of that it would probably VOID the warranty with mazda's screwed up point of view... what do you like about them? salesman are always going to be 'nice', its getting the same dealership to follow up on the work a car might require that is difficult though, you haven't really seen the true side of a dealerships personality until you bring the car in to have it serviced...

If you bought it there, you sure as hell can.

I don't know about Stu Evans but Sesi sells Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda/Volvo. They're all "Ford Family", so they should all be authorized repair facilities.

You should be able to bring your mazda to any ford dealer. As long as they are willing to work on it.

the MS's work a little different than regular mazda's, 'technically' you have to be an authorized MS mechanic to work on them, BUT a regular mazda tech can call mazdaNA and get authorization to work on them depending on what the work is and if they are qualified... thats why i drove out to sterling to get my warranty work done, the local mazda dealership refuses to get the authorization to work on my car, and thats a mazda dealership, a lincoln/ford/mercury dealer will more than likely be even less likely to want to do it, especially since they dont make much if any money off warranty work, so dealerships HATE to do it, and if they can refuse it they most likely will... and if they do the work anyway without getting authorized by mazdaNA they can void the warranty on the car... its a pretty stupid system, especially since i've got to drive at least an hour just to get warranty work done...
