Just got a 2008 MS3 and have perused this forum for possible issues. I heard a lot about the motor mount being really soft and the transmission mount as well.

Did these get fixed in 08?

I need a Mazda nerd to help me out. I tried searching the forums but no luck finding much on the 08's.

thanks

I have an 08 MS3 as well. The motor mount was fixed before the end of the 07 model. The transmission mount is not "broken", but it definitely needs upgrading. I am very happy with the Corksport inserts, I thought the 1-2-3 shifting problems were all me until I made this upgrade, now it shifts smoothly.

Probably not. Mazda is a bunch of cheap assholes. They try to void my warrenty for buying their mazdaspeed parts that come with a warrenty LOL. Earnhardt Ford/Mazda FTL.

07 and 08 are the same. The tranny mount issue was fixed for the 08s and a recall for the 07. The ultra soft rear engine mount is the same. You can get the inserts to stop the movement or get a new aftermarket mount that is more solid.

I don't know if the emissions recall applies to the 08s.

for the record, is was not the trans mount that was recalled, it was the drivers side motor mount BOLT. The mount was only replaced if damaged, but the actual faulty part was the bolt.

The mount is mounted on the tranny, hence "Tranny mount". The engine is on the passenger(right) side. NO driver(left) side motor mount on the ms3. (thumb)

And you're right, only the bolt was replaced, unless damage was seen on the mount.

I watched the tech working on my car, and he also did something to the rubber insert for the transmission mount recall. If I recall correctly, he trimmed it down somehow so it would crush better when the bolt was torqued down. The bolt looked the same to both of us, it had one more washer than the stocker and the hardness markings were the same. The only difference we could see was the alteration to the rubber insert and the extra washer.

motor mount, ecu programing slightly different for emissions and a couple more airbags. thats all i know of.

same difference who cares

obviously he does or else he would not have posted it...

you have quite an interwebz mouth on you in this forum, don't you?

about the break-in attempt above, i think that mazda put some sort of reinforcement plate there for '08...still blows that some idiot would try to steal the car.
