What Exhuast upgrade u got????

i took the stock muffler on my P5 and punched the baffles out of it. It has a good mid level throaty sound. like any four cylinder without a muffler. one time i was just running the header and the midpipe so the exhuast was exiting right below the shifter. Very loud and sounded good as hell. A noticable power increase as well.

It doesn't sound throaty. It sound like ass, you just dont know what a good exhaust sounds like. And running just header and midpipe, that sounds even worse! It's loud and it sound like a bunch of nasty beer farts all clumped into one continuous sound. I know this because I did it. Get real dude, you're too cheap to buy a real exhaust, so you pretend your ghetto rigged one sound good.

I had a greddy cat back but sumone rear-ended me, i told them the exhaust was around $1000, instead of replacing it he gave me the money and i bought myself a full Borla exhaust, sounds sooooo nice and i feel a lil more performance but not that much more than the greddy.

but any how i ordered a tanabe axel back because not many peeeps said much about it... yeah im wierd like that ask what every one has what they tthink and i get something else. XD... well actually, i went with the tanabe exhuast because it was a deal couldnt resist 350shipped best deal iv heard in a month!!!!! was gonna get a skunk2 and add my thoughts to this thread so there would be someone that had it and had info on it..but i couldnt bring my self to spend 450+ on a full cat back... i mean im a broke ass asian college student....

I got my tanabe Exhaust in today installed in less than 15 mins !!! it sound fricken awsome!! at low rpm i can hear it it deep tone and on the freeway or cruising speed of 45+ i can barely hear it at all and on the freeway i cant even hear it!! which is exactly what i wanted! i notice some power gain but i wasnt expecting to get much power out of just an axel-back exhaust. especially with stock headers and cat. but im very satisfied!!!

ohh and by the way just out pur curriosity i tried the no exhaust thing when i was changing it out.. i thought wow thats loud but doesnt sound as bad as i thought it would!!!...so i droped the car off the jacks and put into gear started driving it got half way out my drive hit the brake and back it up finished the install........ dude you drove your car like that with an aftermarket header cat and mid!!! man your probly one of those dudes that drive down the freeway and the people in the nieghborhoods 2miles away can hear you driving from inside there house.......

awesome, i have that mazdaspeed sport axel back. soundwise i like it and it was hella cheap. and i felt some placebo gains of... yeah i just drive faster now (evil).
also i was wondering if it was worth upgrading to a cat back exhaust?

Any muffler. I like the HKS and Magnaflow sound, and the Racing beat if you want it quiet. Try somethin new man. Buy a muffler nobody on here uses and put it in the system. Apexi maybe.

..... any exhaust will be good just straight pipe it and you will be loud, i can tell you this from personal expierience, without my silencer in there, it is stupid.

Also what is the largest anyone would go for piping? I went 2.5 inch as i thought i was going to turbo the car etc, and etc etc. Now there is no use, as I will probrably eventually sell it. I want to change the piping, I was thinking 2 inch? Is this the normal?

I would go about 2.3'' or at most 2.4" on a NA P5.

Yeah I hadn't thought about it till recently, but I'm gonna have to sell my magnaflow soon and get a custom 3" setup if I decide to upgrade the WOMP kit to higher boost.

does anyone know what the car sounds like with the stock muffler on and just the obx header? I'm afraid that if I get a muffler/catback with the obx header, the car might sound too obnoxious for my taste

the obx with stock muffler/exhaust is quieter then my car with injen. a LOT quieter.
