What do you guys think of Kumho ECSTA ASX All Season for Stocky?

I posted a similar thread to this, search for Kumho Ecsta ASX..
I am interested in them also, however i dont know how they will perform in snow, ?? I dont know if i should get the ASX or some winter tires...depends on what YOU in particular are looking for....

Not in stock size? I search on tirerack.com and they have 195/50R16 for Kumho ECSTA ASX.

This is on my confirmation:
195/50WR-16 Kumho ECSTA ASX SL

i THINK what Mike R is referring to is that he has the ASX's, but not in stock size. I believe Mike R has them in 17's.........

Peace

Ohh, well they're shipped out anyway, so I can't change my order.

Chicken Soup, good luck finding your answer regrading their performance on snow. Luckily I don't live in the area where it shows about half of times in a year.. :P

Yes, that's what I meant. I have 215/40/17's. They have been incredible so far, I might need 2 new ones for this winter . Three Auto-x's have been quite harsh on them. I think they will do finwe in the snow, I had 712's which were summer tires on my stang and it did pretty well.

I paid $69 for each on tirerack, then about 41 for shipping from Lousiana; hence they don't them in stock at my nearest warehouse.

What about quietness? I know that P5 rear end has really bad noise level, especially on stock tires. I hope these Kumho can make a difference.

Bump, thinking about ordering these from Tire Rack also, was looking at going up to 205/50/16, but I'd save like $100 bucks staying with 195/50/16.

I have these installed already. They aren't as good as I was expecting, but STILL GOOD! Alot better than stocky in many ways. First, the road noise is still there under 50 m/h, but once you get up to 60 or above, it goes down (good). As to traction, they're pretty grippy and it's definetly grippier than stockies. On the wet road? Haven't had a chance to test them yet.

Conclusion, would I get these again for my next tires? probably not. It seems there are better choices out there. If you're trying to save money then go with 195, but if it's not a huge deal to you, I would bump it up to 205 so you get more selections. My next tires I will probably be looking at Michelin, Toyo, Bridgestone, or Pirelle(sp?).

hey Jliao, you say that they arent as good as you expected? Im wondering what were you expecting b/c your review doesnt sound like ur trashing the tire. Why wouldnt you get them again? I know that Michelins, toyo's and Bridgestone's are more of a mainstream brand but i have recieved better reviews on the ASX's than i have on the gforce's and pilots's, I dont know i guess im looking for a more thorough review....Peace

Hrm, not sure how I can explain this. From what I've heard, people say Kumho make great tires and tirerack reviews say they are great set of tires as well. So, I suppose I had a pretty high expectation out of all these great words. In addition, I had Yoko ES100 before I put my stockies back on and ES100 was VERY grippy; thus, I guess I was somewhat expecting the Kumho to perform somewhere near ES100. But, I don't believe this is possible because this is AS tires while ES100 is summer tires. As of result, since it didn't match my expectation, I was hoping that other brands such as Michelin, Bridgestone, Toyo, or even Yoko might has something better. Like I said, I would actually bump it up to 205 to have more selection than having 195.

I hope this make sense and sorry if I made any mis-leading judgement.
