What do you dislike most about your Speed 3?

My dislikes about my MS3..

I love My MS3. But what bugs me most.....

1: The weak paint.. I thought my Toyota had a weak finish. But I fear that the finish on a peanut M&M is tougher than the paint on my hood..

2: The interior plastic.. Talk about easy to scratch.. .. As I was rummaging through my glove box, I managed to drop something on the floor of the front passenger seat. I picked it up and accidentally brushed up against the glovebox door with my wrist watch.. Neddless to say I left a long scratch on my glovebox door..

I agree with the paint quality. Not only is it very soft but it has orange peel so bad in certain places that I contemplated returning it to the dealership and demanding it be repainted.

Yah, there's definitely some smoking going on, my nice chromed tail pipe stays black. It comes off easily though. But the silver paint near my exhaust is slightly stained black and I couldn't rub it off when I washed my car last weekend. LOL, is this a diesel?

I have 36000 on my 07 and I love it. When it gets butt cold like below 5 degrees F the front sway bar creaks pretty bad over large humps. I deal with it because its so damn cold I would creek too

Gear ratios... too ******* short!!!

Drive a Mazdaspeed Miata, and then complain about gear ratios.

They are gear limited to 121 mph in 6th gear. Mine was trapping in the middle of 5th gear running 15.5's in Denver(5800 feet altitude).

I traded the Mazdaspeed Miata in for a Mazdaspeed 3, and I love the low rpm this thing pulls on the highway.

Before I say what I don't like about my car, let me start by saying I love my car, and the good things outweigh the bad ones. But since this is about the bad ones, here it goes:

Suspension noise in very cold weather (front bushings)
Bad HVAC ventilation (fogs up easily in cold/humid weather)
Gauge lighting at twilight hours
Bose stereo not living up to its name
stick doesn't like to be rushed

FWD sucks, but it is I compromise I knew in advance I would make. So I don't hate it.

Most of the complaints made on this tread I can relate to with my MS3.

Shifter- doesn't like to be rushed (Ive miss- shifted on more than one occasion just by shifting fast. I've made conscious efforts to fully depress the clutch and put it in gear and it still happens at times, this is f'n annoying ) Yes I've changed my motor and tranny oil (AMsoil full synthetic) but it still happens. It's almost like it only likes to obey granny shifts.

Gearing - 1st gear is way short. I actually kind of like 2nd and up. However, it's annoying knowing that if this cars gearing wasn't so short it would be running at least a 13.7 1/4 stock and probably a 5.2 0 to 60.

Tires - OMG! I'm burning though those stock Bridgestones like it's the coolest thing to do. Yes I've burned out on occasion but damn! 6500miles and I'm in need of new tires. <~ these ones were in the front, they now reside in the rear until I come up with 400+ $$$ to buy new ones...

The other complaints I might have are so minor I'm not even going to bother listing them.

In summary however for the $$$ it's a bad ass machine not only for the price but in general and I would do it all over again. It's such an awesome daily driver with all the tq it lashes out in the midrange. Passing and 2nd and 3rd gear burst are just incredibly fast! I love the sleeper theme as well, I love taking off like a bat out of hell at times surprising the piss out of people in their so called "sports cars" It also looks pretty damn nice to if you ask me, specially after you've added your own personal touches to it ( Wheels, Tint , etc..) Oh and one last thing, it's f'n fun to drive!!! (drive2)

The windshield rattle drove me nuts until it was finally fixed. Now the only thing that concerns me is how fast the stock potenza's are wearing.

Overall, little to complain about and a lot to like.

Really? There are several good places. First and foremost, the ashtray in the center console. Works great for quarters, with the grooves they don't slide around. Secondly, the compartment in the upper part of center armrest would probably be good for coins, as long as you don't have so many that they're sitting on top of each other. There's also a well-hidden compartment at the driver's knee, if you put something at the front of it to keep the coins from coming out on hard launches you could put coins in there. Plus the small long compartment next to the gearshift. Or you could get a little plastic cup and keep them in the door cupholder. Lots of places IMO.
