What do you consider a "fast" car?

Just a random question I've been pondering. I've heard so many people say of cars I thought were fast "thats not a fast car". I guess it might all be relative but I consider the MS3 to be a fast car or the 370Z to be a fast car.

I know there is a difference between a quick car and a fast car but what is your threshold for fast? 300whp? 400?

Is the new 5.0 Mustang a fast car? What about the Mazdaspeed6?

Just thinking out loud...

Fast = Skyline, Cobra, Viper, Supra, Porsche, Lamborghini, Corvette etc...

Quick = S4, M3, AMG, G37, 370z, GTO, MR, STi, IS-F, MS3, MS6 etc...

teh norm = Type-R, RSX, Cobolt, SRT-4, S2000, Tc etc...

Slotege = Protege's (rockon)

I plan on being between fast & quick. Beating most of all "quick" cars and staying with most of the "fast" cars.... in teh slotege.

lol i would say the msp is in the norm, because ive beat a civic si, killed a tc, and from the start kept up with a 240sx with a rb20 swap till i blew my clutch lol

I consider the Protege to be fast...IMO it is all according to how fast you are willing to go...I personally never desire anything quicker than it is capable of...

Isn't an m3 faster than a supra?

Yeah I think your right.... I got caught up in the name, sorry.

Those are the cars I thought of IMO that came to mind in each category. I'm sure others have a completely different idea of fast, but yeah.

You liked my 4rth category...hehe. I'm not sure where to place the protege, because I honestly have never driven anything faster then my poor little MSP. My Integra LS (R.I.P) was s*** compared to my spicy. So that is the only comparison I can make, which isn't saying much.

I haven't even raced anyone yet. With 79k miles with stock LSD, Turbo and A/C (which is going out in 2 and 3 errr) I'm afraid to redline her. She's my daily, so I'm sure some of you guys understand. I want to dyno while I'm stock before I put on everything Ive purchased.

If a car that does the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds is fast to some of you guys, what adjective do you apply to top fuel dragsters that run low 4s? Fasterest? To me, those are fast; everything else is varying degrees of quick.

There's different definitions of fast. Fast at what? A to B, Backroads, Road Course, Auto-X, Roll Racing, Drag Racing?

My car has beat lot's of cars that are faster in a straight line in different things. On backroads or on the auto-x, my MSP can be faster than 400-500hp cars. It's all relative.

Now if were talking about sheer power and forward motion. My buddy's 800-1000whp(relative to the pulley installed) foxbody is fast. Everything else is just quick, lol.

I was thinking more along straight line speed. I rode in an MS3 with intake and exhaust and I thought that was a fast car but I gues it's all relative.

You just haven't made the right friends yet. If you're ever in the Knoxville area hit me up, I can make sure your definition of fast is changed, lol.

i always look at it as a weight to horsepower ratio. take the curb weight and divide by the horsepower. basically tells you how many pounds of car each horse is pulling. anything below 13 or 14 is fast in my book.
