Hey fellow Speed3ers whats up? I was looking at the GT TECH PRO Perfomance meter. I mean it would allow us to see how much we improve the performance of our cars with the hi-po goodies we add. Do u think it is worth it? Has anyone owned one before?

use one of these as a rough (street) dyno on many cars from Hondas to Porsches. works pretty well. of course a real dyno is the best for tuning.

I have one. As onikaze said, great "street dyno." I personally feel it's pretty acurate however, the ultimate knowing would be compare it with a dyno run.

I agree, it's a cool gadget, but may become abandoned after awhile. Thought of getting one myself.

Is it hard to install or is it just GPS?For only $200 it seems worth it to me.That dont seem to be all that expensive and Im sure you could find a better price.Thats about what it costs to take your car to a dyno only 2 times. It may not be 100% but should give to a real good idea about how much eash bolt on added. The site says its pretty accuate but that could be BS.I dont understand how it gives HP/Torque and rpms.$200 dont seem to be all that expensive and Im sure you could find a better price.

it has sensors which detect how quickly you accelerate, add the wieght of the car and it can give an estimate of HP and TQ

The reason I say I think it's pretty accurate is because I had it installed on a completely stock truck and wanted to see how close it was to the factory claimed HP and torque. Well to my surprise it was within 3-5 on both. Again this will never take place of a dyno run, but what I recommend is when your ready to dyno your car, use this pre or post dyno and compare the two.

In my experience, they aren't incredibly accurate, but if you're a truly consistent driver, you can still pull fairly reliable data from these units.

Waste of money.

I had one for all of a week and tired of it. Luckily Tesla had a fairly lenient return policy and took it back for a full refund.

First off... the thing is near useless if you can't launch without wheel spin. ANY WHEELSPIN AT ALL will mess up the test results. They say this much in their instructions.

Secondly, unless you are a) making changes to the car that are increasing or decreasing power, etc., on a regular basis, and b) have a nice empty strip of road that you can do whatever you want on, you really won't be able to get much use out of it.

Sure it's fun to play with but it really is just that, a toy that you will bore with.

And really it's not the easiest to calibrate properly either so even if you do launch w/o wheelspin chances are you aren't going to get accurate results.

Just go to a dyno or track instead.

My experience mirrored yours. It may work to some degree but in all honesty, it's a waste of money.

Of course, if you're interested in using your steering wheel, it's a bit more functional...

They tested one in SCC mag back when the original came out and they found it to be accurate. HP #s were lower than the dyno bc aerodynamics, weight etc.
