I did mine in the glove box but I think LordWorm's spot is better. Mine is accessible but in the way; and the wires are more of a pain to hide. I wonder how much of a pain it'd be to move mine under the cup holder...

How big is the box itself then? Sounds tiny?

khaosman: should be a sinch to move, just undo everything from the microtech, feed the loom back to where you want it, relocate the microtech, plug it all back in. At worst you will have to cut and resolder a handful of wires.
I have the laptop plug facing towards the backseat for easy tuning...rip out the cup holder, plug in the laptop....couldn't be easier.

urbanbiker: tiny. Under my cup holder i have the LT10S, the X4 (which i'm considering relocating to under the dash, gets VERY hot under there), and my wideband module. It'd fit in the glovebox with room to spare easilly. Hell if you were keen you could mount it under the kick panel in the passanger foot well, beside the standard ecu.....if you were keen.

i've got my MT mounted behind the glove box with the laptop adapter in the glove box along with the j&s. it would be about the size of a stack of 3 cd cases.

glove box is a good spot for it, in case you want to tune, just pop open the glove box and plug in the laptop/hand controller.

yeah but the wiring gets messy, and you lose spots for your CDs!

under the cup holder is a 2 second opperation to get to the ecu for tuning....

well its in the mail, so as soon as I get it I will be scoping for places.

I removed my Cruise control system so I do have room under the kickpanel on the passenger side, if not it sounds like the cupholder might be a good idea.

Does the laptop plug in right at the box or is there a tail that hangs off the microtech?

to laptop tune you need to buy a dongle.....

hand controller and dash unit plug straight in

can you permanently "dangle the dongle" haha and just leave it tucked somewhere for easy access or can you only plug the dongle in when you are using the lap top?

The kit comes with a "laptop adapter" does it not? I would assume that is the dongle

thats the dongle yeah.

i have my laptop cord (USB to serial adapter) with the dongle perminantly attached to that, and i just plug it in to the ecu when i want to tune.. rest of the time i have a serial cable plugged into the ecu, connecting to my dash unit

I didn't go with the dash unit in my car, trying to keep the sleeper look. I don't want someone to look over and see a pilot cockpit.

Dash unit is a bit of a novelty. I pull mine down when i'm not racing now, because Mrs Worm doesn't like it so much (very bright shift lights are almost blinding!) - but for any sort of track work, its imperative. Takes the place of half a dozen gauges (water temp, air temp, wideband AFR if you have it, tacho with 4 stage shift lights, vac/boost, timing, injector duty, voltage, and more), and gives you something very simple to look at when you are shifting gears on the drag strip (you get an amber warning light, an amber shift light, and 2 red over-rev lights). I find it to be the single best thing I have for consistant times.

I mounted mine in the passenger footwell. Cable can be dissconnected or coiled up and stored in the glovebox through the back.

nice place to put it, but not overly stealth...and my passangers have a tendency to kick things around that area...

good for a bit of showing off - if my car was a show car, i'd remove the passanger airbag and mount it up there on display in the dash, Japanese spec street racer style
