What cars have you owned in the past?

1979 Mercury Zephyr (full on 80's paint job - metallic blue with hot pink trim!)

1968 VW Squareback (Only $300? SOLD! Wh, wh, what's that oily stuff shooting out the tailpipe? Oh well, it's so low it's scrapin' the ground and has two 15"s so still, SOLD! Besides, who needs paint when you've got all that nice primer. What, you say your mom sewed that interior herself with leftover polka-dot material? Neato! I wish I had pictures to show you...)

1976 Oldsmobile Starfire GT (truly exotic! Note the "GT")

1974 VW Super Beetle (a gross polluter, with a really nice custom interior and sound system)

1986 Ford Escort Wagon (super clean! I actually came a very close second at a sound off competition with this car! I had a very stealth install, the judges loved the sleeper thing. I actually had people offering me money for this car before I ever thought of selling it. I know, it's a wagon! uuugh!)

1997 Mustang V6 (I begin my break with the tradition of owning cars that were previous grocery getters and grandma haulers)

1995 Mustang GT (The V6 was starting to feel a little too sleepy. A true monster that I miss sometimes when I stomp on the MP3's loud pedal.)

1965 Mustang Coupe (given to me as a birthday present from my father-in-law. Nice guy! Fast and fun, more reserved than the 95 GT with a little more character. Needed too much of my time to get into show/race quality so it now lives back with my father-in-law. Ironically, I now find myself with enough time and money to put into it. Oh well!)

1998 Chevy Metro LSi (Inherited from my mother, God rest her soul! A saintly woman with poor taste in vehicles. But hey, I've never driven so far on one very small tank of gas!)

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee (I know, back to the grocery getters. My fleeting youth gets the best of me in a moment of weakness. I still own it though, it's great for, well, getting groceries! And my wife will really have to try hard to wreck it. That's why the 95 GT went bye bye. It's also going to work out nice as a tow vehicle for my race car.)

I'm with you Vivid.

1st car: 2.5 years
2nd car: 2 years
3rd car: 1 year 10 months
4th car: 1 year (Damn, I hated that CRV)
5th car: 3 years (It's a record)
6th car: 2 months with no plans to get rid of it.

My first car was used. Bought it for $6000. Drove it for 2.5 years and traded it for $6000. Not a bad deal, huh? Man do I miss that $114 a month car payment.

OFF TOPIC

Here are some of the cars I had before my P5.

1. 1967 BMW 1600
2. 1973 Opel Rekkord
3. 1985 BMW 318I (still have it, need to re-do it)
4. 1990 Chrysler Voyager Pass Van (stick shift from factory rare)
5. 1996 VW Jetta GT
6. 1999 Astro Conv Van (hooked up)
7. Mazda P5 Black Mica

I'll try to keep the cars for long periods of time. The first 2 cars I had when I was in Germany back in the 80's, and the BMW I bought it there too and brought it back to U.S. It was fun driving with no speed limit, you can really enjoy driving!

Very interesting, two have owned Opel Rekords! Was there an Opel dealer near a base in Germany of something?

OFF TOPIC

Well, there always are dealers all over in Germany for all cars. I got mine used from a friend who was leaving to go back to the states. I only pay for the car back then about $200! See in Germany the TUV (thier version of DOT) is extremely tuff and the germans are obligated to maintain their cars like new, regardless of the year. No CRAP riding in the streets over there, especially on the Autobhan. You see used car lots with badass cars!

I got my Rekord in Miami Fla when I was in college. It had a HUGE sun roof, a four speed transmission with the shift on the the steering column and was a lot of fun. Slow but fun none the less. I traded it towards a 65 Mustang in like 1967. The dealership was going to wholesale the car so my father bought it from them. He had for another several years before he sold it. I would like to think that it is still running around south Fla giving someone a good time. Wishful thinking, I know.

Let's see if I can remember them all

1983 Ford Ranger
1986 Sunbird Turbo
1983 Cutlass

1993 Ford F-150 Lightning (Look in sig, Friend was orig. owner, was the first one in charlotte)
2002.5 Protege 5 (Look in sig)

I am 25 now. And actually most of my friends tease me becuase they think I don't keep cars very long. A year or 2 and then I sell them. Ok so I like cars. If I had my way I would have a different car for everyday of the week and one for each different mood I was in. Not to mention several motorcycles and alternative vehicles. I think I will always have at least 2 cars. I hate being stranded especially when you are trying to work on one.
