What car did you trade in for your CX-5?

Traded in my 2012 Chevy Cruze 2LT, 50,000 miles. Loved the gas mileage, never had any problems. Just wanted something a bit bigger, awd, and more ground clearance.

This is my first Mazda, and first non General motors car. Previous vehicles were:
2012 Chevy Cruze 2LT
2009 Chevy Impala LTZ
2007 Chevy Impala LT
2002 Oldsmobile Alero GL
1995 Chevy Beretta

Traded in a 2005 Mazda3i 5 dr at 147,000 miles for 2014.5 CX-5 FWD

Before the Mazda 3, I had a 1998 Saturn SC-2 with 112,000 miles.
Before that, a 1990 Ford Probe GL (by Mazada, off MX-6 platform) with 171,000 miles. I was so happy with that, that I went back to Mazda after I had too many problems with my Saturn.

2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX - Had a lot of mods done to it, boosting 24psi. Had it for 10 years and started to grow out of the race/track scene. Havent had someone try to race me in 3-4 years which is good because I don't like racing on the street. Traffic has gotten so bad here that I don't get to use the power anymore. It's my daily driver and drove it fairly conservatively now. When I got it I loved doing spirited driving through canyons, but those days are gone. I wanted something comfortable, good gas milage, AWD, and the new bells and whistles. Legacy was my first choice along with the forestor if I went SUV. Wasn't happy with either after test driving them. Decided to test drive all the SUV's that got decent gas mileage and ended up with the CX-5. Felt like I could still hit some turns fairly well when I wanted to, but still fit the rest of my needs.

2008 Chevy Equinox Sport AWD . . . "EQ" was a great ride and quite dependable. Unfortunately, two things you could "always" rely on were its thirst for fuel and its tendency to "eat" batteries, whether powering the vehicle or the OnStar unit. Other than those small burps, he was one of my best vehicles (I've owned 32 over the last 50 years). Alas, my penchant for high-tech gadgetry got the better of me. Our 2016 CX-5 GT AWD stuns me with its incredible abilities every driving experience.

2015 Subaru WRX Limited. Absolutely loved the car and miss it like crazy but someone T-boned me 5 months after I bought it and their insurance bought it... I do NOT miss all the attention I got from cops. I have had cops pull me over and then circle my car to find a reason for pulling me over. It was ridiculous. I was surprised at the sportiness of the CX-5, although it obviously isn't as good as a 268 hp car.

2008 BMW 328i Coupe.

The car was starting to show its age mechanically, and we were starting to look for a more family-friendly vehicle. They had great end of year deals going on, and the BMW took a real turn for the worse, so within 4 days of first contacting a dealer we were driving home in our new CX-5!

I didn't trade in anything when I bought my CX-5 this year. We decided to keep our Miata and Mazda3 so we're now a three Mazda family.

When my girlfriend (now wife) and I met, I had the Miata but once we got married we needed a little more space for longer trips, bringing home groceries, etc, so we bought a Mazda3, which has been a great little car. Now that we have a child, we added a CX-5 to the lineup and it's been wonderful -- very comfortable, great handling, stylish, and plenty of space for us right now. I'm like the guy in the Mazda commercial, except I can't get myself to get rid of a Mazda when I buy a new one.

2 more kids and you will have a CX-9 to add to the barn. (headbang)

I knew your story sounded familiar :)

Not a trade in but I think a story worth sharing...
I stopped owning a car in 1981 while attending OSU. I owned a 2 door Ford Galaxie (eartly 70's car, 2 door, 350hp) which is essentially a boat with 4 wheels, so when I decided by buy a vehicle, yep, after 32 years, I carefully checked out my options. Decided the CX-5 was the right vehicle for me for a variety of reasons including reviews, mpg, styling.

A 2006 Scion Xb Manual that I loved but was growing old

I kept the 2006 Evo 9 though since it's my garage slut

2005 Nissan Murano. It had only 170K, but maintenance costs were adding up. It was a great car, but it was time to replace it.

Just traded in my 2010 Golf 2.5 highline for a 2013 6sp. First Mazda ever!

Not because I wanted to but I had to trade my Focus away for a bigger car. And the need for AWD was another big factor. I travel a lot for work and the Focus was not working out.
