What car did you have at 16?

nice pic ! is that yours and is the inside rear lifting? If so what sway bars are you using? no hate. that's bad. a little pissed though ha. I had to wait till i was 47 to get one!

Yes that is mine and I am using the stock sway bars. I do have BC coils however which firmed up the ride a lot. Thats probably the reason it lifts a tire now.

My first car (truck) at 16 was a 1999 Dodge Dakota V6. I now drive my MP5. Kids at my school get M series BMW's, Porches, and even one kid who often drives fathers Lamborghini Gallardo. My favorite car at the school has to be a 1969 Chevy Nova SS. I personally, am glad I dont have a car like that because I would probably endanger myself, and others around me.(drive2)

Ham3r so who wins the autocross? Yes i would have to agree that they Firm up the ride. with some mighty sticky tires in front. May i inquire why you are not running a bigger rear sway. out of the class? This is my last threadjack assist today.

Your Dad's car is a dynamite ride. That car took me to the fastest top speed I've been, in a car, around 300km/h. That car had insane acceleration, too, along with the full leather interior and the power package, lol. NOT a regular 944 Turbo, that's for sure and, pretty good for modified 1980s technology.

With that said, being a dumbass teenager myself at one point, I can only say that it's probably in everyone's (parents, teenager, general public) interest that younger, inexperienced drivers drive something modestly powered and most certainly, should be relatively cheap to run to avoid expensive mishaps and/or repairs.

when i was 16 i didn't agree with this until i got a speeding ticket.

99 Mustang GT yellow with a black stripe down the hood. It was decent in a straight line.

Awesome...you weren't kidding about your family being car nuts.

1992 Dodge Daytona ES 5-speed. Had the V6, then got a full stereo, blue neons, and replacement 15" wheels. Also replaced the TB with a larger one off of an 80s Caravan, and removed the cat from the exhaust and put a Dynomax muffler on it.

Parents had an '02 F-350 V10 modded heavily, and a '02 Mazda Millenia S Special Edition.

Lets keep this on subject guys. I have already warned everyone on this thread so here is warning two.

No nonsense about how you think it is wrong for 16 year olds to have ______ car. If you want to discuss that, start a thread for that.

I started to work at a local grocery store and saved up every penny I earned to buy a Caspian blue 1965 Mustang (3spd manual) from the original owner (an old lady) who lived a couple of blocks away from my parents house.... I miss that car.

1989 f-150. Bought it when i was 15 and it was an auto 2wd v-8 and by the time i was 18 it was a 5 speed (m5rs tranny) 4x4 (borg and warner transfers with detriot lockers) 300 inline six powered and jacked the heck up. A fun toy at the time. LOL

Technically not mine, but it was the parent's old car, a 1988 Volvo 240DX, in brick red, with a 5-speed manual. Oh, and no tach. That apparently was extra. The skin-welding vinyl seats were not, however.

Great torque-y engine, a little wacky with the gearing. Didn't have it long enough to replace the stereo.

Once I went off to school, the 'rents insisted it was unreliable (which I didn't really believe) and sold it to some Volvo fanatic from New Hampshire. They got a '05 Corolla with a 5-spd manual. The engine was reverse'd from the Volvo. Light on the torque, but geared lower. Still too easy to stall out, especially with the radio and AC on.

I figured my first car all my own should be a smidge more exciting. So I got the MS3

94 toyota celica st. only able to put out sub-100 HP to the wheels, but other than a lack of straight line it was a pretty awesome car after we rebuilt the motor. great handling, great on gas, and my dad is actually still driving it to this day.

1977 Thunderbird! 351cc cleveland and "upgraded factory 15" Mags". It was a land yacht! It still had the functioning 8-track when we sold it in 1989.

when i was 16 i had a 2001 mazda protege 1.6l auto. when i sold the car i left a CD of the Protege Song by bbass underneath the driver seat for the new driver of the car. I keep seeing it around town being driving by another 16-17 year old girl. hope she found the cd.

1970 Toyota Corona, it had been rolled on I-35, did the body work, had it painted "Lily White" for $90 bucks, even had blue and black "shag" carpet. 90 horses, great little car, yeah I'm old too...........
