What brand of bulbs do you guys like most? Non-HID please

Philips Visionplus available at powerbulbs.com It puts out the most actual usable light of any halogen bulb. It is whiter than stock, but not pure white, it has a very slight blue hue when viewed from certain angles. I don't care about light color, justs brightness, and this is the brightest I've found.

It's a halogen/xenon hybrid. Which means halogen style bulb with xenon gas in it to make it brighter. The downside is that it will burn out quicker than a normal halogen bulb.

Side note: I use the philips Weather Vision H3 for my foglights, it's more yellow than most bulbs to cut through fog, rain and snow better. These are also availabel at powerbulbs.com

The Osram Silverstars also contain Xenon gas. I thnk most Halogen bulbs contain some Xenon gas to improve lighting effectiveness.

I gotta look for the HKS Power Beams for my next set of bulbs then... But your saying it's what outputting not drawing??? So when the stock bulbs are on, they really just output 65ws of heat/light? I guess thats the same with your house bulbs right? I mean, when we buy 100w bulbs to replace the 60w bulbs, they sure seem brighter & hotter too!...
There is no such thing as "output wattage". A 65W bulbs draws 65watts. A 100W bulb draws 100 watts. Light output is measured in lumens, not watts.

Silverstars rule. I had cheap $30 bulbs and light output sucked, the blue tinge was cool but I will never sacrafice the light output again just to have cool looking lights.

Eurolite and streetglow suck, i sell this up and circuit city and have tried both, i was not satisfied with neither of the two....I have Nokya artic whites, blows the other out of the water... i love the blue tint it creates during the day...

I use Hella H4 & H3 yellows. Nice yellow look with a hint of purple...also good light pattern

Today switched to Silvania Silverstars... I must say, during the day, they look like your factory Mazda bulbs... but at night, there is a slight white look to them. For the usage factor, they are much better than the street glows. The have great output distance. You can finally see farther than 25ft. The only problem with these bulbs, is that they don't light up the ground as much as the street glows. At least now I can drive fast at night and see at the same time!

Also, both bulbs, still produce a yellowish light projection to the ground. I guess thats the same with almost any xenon based bulb...

I think my future mod will have to be a HID Sport20 Headlamp conversion from japan! Any other suggestions to getting a better (cheaper) lamp bulb replacement for our Proteges?

Any cheaper suggestion? Yeah, get HIDs. If you really want to improve the beam area get P5 headlights and if it's the JDM look you're going for paint the P5 headlights black or get Canadian P5 headlamps. Cost me around $800 altogether for my current set up. If you go for actual JDM assemblies it's gonna cost you well over $1000 and if I'm not mistaken they'll be aligned wrong because they drive on the opposite side of the road. Could be wrong on that last part though.

Here's a thread w/ info. on how I did mine:

You'd be surpirsed how much I searched on this topic... everyone has there own opions... I would rather want a direct answer now.

you make no sense what so ever. This is another thread with people expressing their opinions.... (killit)

its true... no one has a straight answer when it comes to bulbs... Everyone is like Silvania... or Piaa... Can never get a straight answer...

Really, if you want to know, buy both bulbs... Just spend the damn money. Thats what I did. You just can't take one answer when they haven't tried anything else. That statment will pretty much apply to anything.

Anyways, it looks like its either HID's, or those HKS Power beams... Either way, it'll look like I'll have to spend more money to find the lights I want.

I'll admit stock will probably last you anywhere from a year to 2 years. But as Maxx says, silverstars won't blow out for at least a year. But for sure when they die, pick up some silverstars... you won't be disapointed... of course if you can find those HKS Power bulbs, that would be very intresting to see how bright those bastards can get!
