What BOV's work?

(uhm)I was just wondering wut BOV's fit on the stock 2003.5 MSP turbo? And do you know if they(it,any) will void the warrenty? Thanks.(rockon) (2thumbs)

if you do a search you will have over 150 threads to look at....

however,, I have seen a couple of mazda speeds with bovs.. mine being one.. I had the TXS on there for about a day... running 10 psi, recirculated,, it doesnt do a damn thing.. it was quieter than my stock one, and the boost still dropped..

thre is a guy on here running a Greddy type s, and he is not recirculating it, and it sounds pretty nice..

there is also a guy running a HKS SS valve...

in my opinion, an aftermarket BOV is not needed.. Joe P (kwiktsi) has run up to almost 20 psi on the stock one and did not have any trouble.... so you might want to spend your money elswhere...

i second superspud....the stock bov is supposedly from the rx-7...can't be all that bad right? but anyways, if you're gonna go hard ic piping, choice is up to you.

Aight, thanks, I think I might spend the money elsewhere for now, and maybe latter on, furhter down the road, I'll consider a bigger BOV. And now that u mention it, I remember hearing something about it being an RX-7 BOV in a car mag, sorry, huge brain fart, but thanks for the advice anyhew. Peace

still doesnt make sense...your venting air that the system has measured and provided fuel for....no matter what you do it wont run properly....in between shifts...at idle...the car was meant to recirculate...you get no added benefits from venting..so why bother..

Um, actually Apexi I am vented to the atmosphere via a Greddy Type S, and have no issues at all. Only time there is a prob is if(like Dexter said) the car is slammed into N at high RPMs. I have no rough idle, car runs Great...Later,

All you need is a BOV that does not leak under idle. (Like most of them do) Good choices are the HKS SSQV, The GReddy Type s and the Apex`i Twin Chamber, if you want to vent it to the atmosphere.

not everyone will have problems, but the majority will. there are fellow dsmers venting, who claim no problems. but keep in mind that just because everything "seems" fine...doesnt mean it is

Well of course the stock one doesnt leak. That wouldnt make much sence for a STOCK RECIRCULATING VALVE to leak under idle from the factory, would it?

Recirculating valves and BOV SHOULD NOT LEAK at idle.
There isnt enough pressure against the spring. If it does you have a problem. Some msp owners, i have suggested just upgrade to a $60 bosch valve good for up to 17-18 psi. It wont leak till that point. The stock unit seems like it wont take higher pressures.
Now in regards to BOV's for the car it is not recommended. You use a MAF meter to measure airflow thru the system . At idle the BOV wont make a bit of difference but for upshifting it will. You are dumping fuel in momentarily between shifts. IF we were using map sensors it would be a different story. It only calculates manifold pressure and load not airflow.
Stick with recirculating the air. It will keep the turbo spooled for the next shift at the optimum range
