what are your thoughts about using polish /and or wax on a new car.

I bought a Mazda 3 a month ago and I bought Ice's liquid polish.

some of my friends are against it since it is a new car, others tell me that it won't cause any issues.

what are your thoughts.

If you search the threads on here, you'll find quite a few posts recommending using a clay bar on a brand new car in order to remove surface contaminants ("rail dust", overspray, industrial fallout, etc.), following up with a fresh wax coat (or two).

Also, like a lot of other products out there calling themselves "polish", ICE isn't polish in the traditional sense -- it's not designed to physically remove oxidation or microfine scratches by abrading the paint surface.

As as matter of fact, ICE is what I'll be using the next time I really wax (as opposed to the TW Wax-As-You-Dry spray wax I use when I dry it off -- doesn't seem to do much but make the car smell like coconut). It did a good job on our Sunlight Silver Metallic '04 M3H and I expect even better results on our Copper Red Mica '08.5 M3H Touring.

So, adding a layer of ICE to the car after you get it isn't gonna be the worst thing in the world, IMHO. Just make sure you follow the directions and don't press too hard when you're applying it or removing the residue and you'll be fine. :)

BTW: What'd ya get? What color? (pics)
