Here is my car history:

91 Civic Si Hatchback (still my fav)
97 Integra
00 mitsu Eclispe GT Convertable
04 BMW 325xi
07 MS6 (picking her up Tomorrow)

My history in order:

81 - cadillac fleetwood (first car and what a piece of crap!)
it had the 4,6,8 cylinder motor in it, grandma's hand-me-down

88 - IROC camaro (a lot of mods, the thing flew!!)
stage 2 chip, aluminum headers, no cats, glasspacks only, custom intake, high flow thermostat over 50 races and lost once to a 911 turbo! What a monster but couldn't afford to keep it. Sold to my nephew and it got stolen a month later!

79 - jeep cherokee (bought it for $400 and called it The Beast)
held together with bondo and it was stolen after only 2 weeks, go figure!

82 - chevy blazer (another piece of crap!)
only ran on 7 cylinders, ended up junking it after 8 months

93 - jeep grand cherokee (sister in-law still owns it with over 200,000 miles)
best car, as far as reliability, I have EVER owned, ram air intake, stage 3 chip, custom exhaust.

98 - dodge durango - ordered from factory with 5.9 motor, posi rear and 3:60 gearing. added ram air intake and high performance computer from mopar. I will probably never buy a dodge again! Traded this in for our beloved speed6!

06 - mazdaspeed6 GT, black mica, moonroof, sirius, mazdaspeed CAI
With a few more mods I think it will rival my 88 Rock!!!

Hey, not to go off topic, but how do you like the mazdaspeed CAI. I'm thinking of having one installed. Any noticable gains?

I LOVE it!! I have no hard figures but it feels like, at least, 10-15 HP gain!! Before I had it installed the turbo would drop off, almost instantly, after 4500 rpm's. Now you feel the boost all the way above 5000, almost to 5500. It also gives off a nice "sneeze" from the stock BOV, nothing obnoxious but it does "turn some heads" and the air rushing into the intake is exponentially louder, but only during hard acceleration. If you accelerate normally you really can't hear it much. BONUS, having it installed by the dealership means...it's warrantied, no questions asked. Yes, you pay a bit more, but it was worth it to me (older with 2 kids now=no time). They even adjusted the ECU to account for the larger velocity of air.
Bottom line, I would definately recommend this CAI to anyone that is not worried about paying $100.00 more for it.

If that's all the mods then it ain't "a lot" & that ain't flying anywhere. That's a 14 second car at best if it had the 350 TPI motor in it. You must've raced some slow ass shitboxes lol

In stock form it's faster than the IROC already...

I agree, but for some crazy reason this thing was a phenom. I am not shitting you when I say no one hung with that car, back then. Think about it, what rivaled that back in 1988, mustang GT?? Beat a number of those without even blinking an eye. Pontiac firebird??? Not even in the same league. My buddies used to go apeshit when they spoke about that thing.

A couple of weeks ago I got into a discussion with one of my buddies about the MS6 versus my Rock and I told him it would be close. He didn't believe me AT ALL, said the IROC was one of the fastest cars he has been in. But again, it was almost 20 years ago and I was young and naive and power easily impressed me...after having kids, things change quite a bit!!

Just bought the MAZDASPEED6 back about 3 1/2 weeks ago and am loving it. Before the Speed6 I drove:

1st - 1980 Ford Bronco - Nick named The Beast - was a piece - Sold
2nd - 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 w/390 - Sold
3rd - 1994 BMW 325i - Traded in
4th - 2000 BMW X5 4.4i - Traded in
5th - 2006 Suzuki DRZ 400 S
6th - 2007 Black Mazda MAZDASPEED6

This car is the first with a stick for me and the 6 speed is a lot of fun!

1976 thru 1979 Motorcycles:
Honda SL100
Kawasaki Kz400
Kawasaki Kz650 (Honda 750 killer)
Yamaha XT-500 Thumper ( most fun I ever had on 2 wheels)

1979 bought first car:
1976 Olds Cutlass Supreme
1983 Mazda 626 coupe
1985 Plymouth Horizon (future wife's car)
1987 Chrysler LeBaron (first Turbo, yeah it sucked but had every option available)
1987 Nissan Sentra
1993 Ford Ranger (still have her, 230k miles an running well)
1997 Mazda 626 (v6 5/speed, 155k and still running)
2006 MS6 sport

List what you beat...
What did it run in the 1/4 mile?

Pontiac firebird??? Not even in the same league.
Wow, you need to learn a lot more about cars. The Birds had the same motors as the Camaros...

Listen, I don't want to get into a pissing match with you about what a car did 20 years ago. I never ran an "official" 1/4 mile in the car, only street races...I know, stupid, but I was 18 years old.

Cars that I beat, let us see...many Mustang GT's, pontiacs, porsche's, 944's, 911's, Lotus espirit, BMW's, etc. etc. etc. I only got my ass kicked in by a 911 turbo on the highway, not a stand still. In fact, my Father had a 928S4 and I blew him away 0-60. Now, you can chaulk it up to crappy drivers but I was not that sane back then and I pushed the limits of that particular car waaaaaay to far. Actually, I don't know how I'm still alive after some of the stupid ass things that I did back then. We had a road in the back of our High School that was perfect for 1/4-1/2 mile races and I smoked all that challenged me, including MUCH faster cars...on paper. 1990 Corvette, HELLO...I should not of even come close to challenging that car but I beat him by more then 5 car lengths.

And the comment about the firebirds having the same motor as the camero's, no s*** sherlock, but you know, as well as the other person, it doesn't come down to the car all the time...(screwy)

I'm not looking for a pissing match, but I know my f-bodies. Been around them for years and have owned 2 of them. I even ran a car club.

So you raced 80s BMWs? (ghey) The Mustangs were slower than the 350 TPI f-bodies der so ok there. What Pontiacs? Must've been bad drivers or guys that had 305, V6 cars or stock 350 TPI sleds. The 80s version of those Porsches were dog slow so nothing to brag about. Turbo or non Turbo Esprit? If non-turbo then please stop bragging. If turbo, then they are about even.

1990 Corvette, HELLO...I should not of even come close to challenging that car but I beat him by more then 5 car lengths.
He wasn't really racing or spun so bad it was over before it started. (spin)

WTF is a "camero? (boom02) (scratch)

Look, I did some dumb s*** in my old Camaro too, but that didn't make the car abeats or faster than it really was.

Well, to defend Jonesy32 and the IROC, I had an 87 Mustang GT that did 13.5/103 in the quarter mile all day long. Was it stock? Aside from exhaust and the 4.11 gears, yes. My wife had an 84 1/2 that did 14.7, stock. I recall plenty of tuned IROC Z's that could crack 14 seconds with the right driver at the track. The fastest car I ever had was a tuned up 87 Grand National that did 11.8/130. As for something that could turn, I had a 300Z Twin Turbo back in 1990 that could pull 13.9, stock, if you did not lag the start or get too much wheel hop.

And, I still recall when the Corvette club came out to the track one weekend. The late 80's were lucky to break 15 seconds and the 1990 Vettes a mid 14. Hell, my wife in her 1984 1/2 Mustang was beating more than a few of them.

103mph is a low 13/high 12 second time slip mph. I'm not buying it w/just a cat-back & gears.

My wife had an 84 1/2 that did 14.7, stock.
4V - V8 GT (5-speed)
175 HP @ 4200 RPM
245 ft/lb @ 2400 RPM

Not seeing it.

Where'd I say no 14s? I said they were 14 second cars...

So the Vettes were slower than the f-bodies now? :o

This is a little off topic. But, to respond, 102.6 to be exact and 13.5. It's hard to get traction at the drag strip with all the rubber on the ground. 4.11 gears, cat back, at little tuning for timing, indexed plugs, TBI bypass, pulled the front sway bar, under pulley, and Hooker headers through NO cats and mandrel bent 2.5 inch exhaust with Dynomax mufflers. It's been a long time since I sold that car.

And, the 84 1/2 GT we had was 210 BHP and it definitely did 14.7. There were a few that had the 85 motor. My wife actually got a little trophy for winning bracket 2 (13 second plus). I bumped the timing, the intake was cooled with ice water just before the run and it did have the optional 3.08 rear. I don't recall the trap speed, however.

The IROC's I saw were tuned up a bit. Gears, exhaust, etc while the Corvettes were all stock. At a drag track, wheel hop is horrible on independent rears. The Z28's solid rear helped get it out of the hole a lot better. And, cracking 14 is high 13's, BTW. So, I saw more than a few samples get 13.8 /13.9.

What is your point? It looks good & I'm not the only one. (group)

it looks damn sexy, thats a nice piece of american muscle!!

as far as the whole iroc thing though... maybe i'm mixed up, but didn't he say that his iroc was good for back in the day? so wouldn't beating the THEN current porsches, mustangs, bmw's etc. mean just that, it was good in its time, 20 years ago. (peep)

I think you missed my point. My point was the cars he beat were slow as hell & nothing worth racing (the exception of the Mustangs, but everyone knows 3rd gen f-bodies, 350TPI anyway, were faster than the 5.0 fox Mustangs)

He called the car a "monster" etc
That's just rediculous
