went to go test drive new evo

I went to the LV Auto Show a few weeks ago. For the second year in a row, guess what was the only car on the floor you couldn't even sit in or look under the hood (everything was locked)?? EVO. I sat in a $95k Jaguar but the Mitsu stand won't let anyone check out the EVO.

Whats the point of them even bringing it to the show?

I went into a dealer and asked for a test drive on the MS3. The guy took a copy of my license and handed me the keys. He said take as long as you like just bring it back in one peace. I ran around in it for about 45 mins. and that sold me on the car. I'm sure its only because Im 48 and I know they would never have let me do that when I was younger let alone by myself.
Anyway picking up my galaxy grey sport Friday and can't wait.(yes)

here at the chrysler plant in de the durangos and their chrysler equivalent are tested while still on the assembly line. they crank the engine over and rev the piss out of it WOT a couple times. if it breaks, they don't let it out the door, if it's good it goes to the truck and gets shipped off.

I drive past that plant every day on my way to work. Every now and then I see a loooong line of durangos and aspens caravaning down 896 towards 95, whats going on there? I always assumed road test, but im just curious...

Very good point but I still think It might be a good idea if they had a designated "test drive" car at the dealerships. But then again that might cost them too much $$

They're called 'demos'.

They sell for cheap on ebay, usually with a couple thousand miles on them.

My car was a demo car....it was a stick in Nebraska though so not popular because of the snow. It only had 60 miles on it but I still got the full "demo discount".

and what was that? even if I'm buying a car off the truck... I'm paying as close to invoice (within a couple hundred dollars) as humanly possible.

When I went to buy my Ford Escape in 2001 I got the same BS. It's not just with performance cars. I asked the salesjerk if I could test drive it and he said, "Pfft, are you gonna buy it?" I said, "Not from you!!" And I left. I think it was due to the fact that my husband and I look a lot younger than we are so he probably thought we couldn't afford a $26,000 vehicle. It was really irritating.
I ended up buying one from a dealer out in the country about an hour away and it was a fantastic experience. I didn't even mind driving out that far to get all the recall issues taken care of..LOL...there were many.

When I went to look for a MS3, I actually had no intent of buying one, I just wanted to look. I told the salesperson this and he said alright. When were looking the car over, he hinted if I wanted to drive it, I reminded him there was no way I was buying the thing today, he said it's alright I know, but I can tell you want to drive it. So I got to take it out (I was 22 at the time) for about half an hour.....needless to say I bought it that day.

same thing happened with me, i was never interested in buying a 4 door sedan, i really wanted an RSX type S. we were close to the mazda dealership and decided to check out what they had, the salesman convinced me(i didnt want to) to test drive a lil blue mazda protege, i did and loved it, bought the one i test drove that same day

very happy with my choice, even after all the hassles i've been with her

That's what I tell everyone, if you don't have an intent on buying it, don't drive it, because you will buy it (if you can afford it).

I got denyed as well for a test drive in an EVO 9 but was aloud to test drive an 06 Z06(amazing by the way) shelby stang gt, and 07 STI. MitsuBITCHI is weird I guess. Down payment? What the hech, I could see maybe a credit check or something. Sorry but the EVOX is not amazing enough to buy without a test drive.

The zo6 isnt even amazing enough to buy without a test drive, you never know if a car will suit you quite right, thats why you test them out a little. Mitsu needs to work on thier service and get off thier high horse the evo aint THAT special.

I went looking @ several competing cars. Most of them I never made it to the test drive, since I couldn't fit in them comfortably. Being large and tall is sometimes not an advantage :(

It does however provide a HUGE advantage when removing used parts @ a junkyard, providing the hand tools hold up to the stress :)

when i was looking and comparing cars i went to a volkswagen dealer told the guy i was one month out and i just wanted to look, and i was not familure with all the options and i just wanted to look around. one of the dealers showed me the gti and then he took me for a performance drive while talking and ghowing me stuff about the car. i ended up getting to testdrive it as well.
it was a realy nice car it had the dsg transmission which was realy cool. part of me thinks it was a slow day and he wanted to have a little fun. if i didnt get any good service elswhere i would have gone back for what i would consider an inferior car beacuse they treated me soo well.

The GTI (especially in DSG guise) is a hell of a car... but to strap yourself into an "inferior car" that, oh by the way, costs $25k+...JUST because "they treated you so well"... damn, that's some crazy s*** right there. Glad you made the right choice. As much as I like the GTI, it can't hold a candle to the MS3 where it counts... reliability.

im happy with my deccision. the gti did have a couple really good options. the DSG the driver interface and a couple other cool options, it is still a really good car. i agree that my money was better spent on the mazda for the performance value. but i will admit we dont have the only good car.
