weird vent stuff

My heater/ac is acting weird. When I have the controls set to floor only, it still blows out of the top vents. It just started doing this.....what the heck?

When the floor only is selected, it automatically puts the A/C on at the top vents so the top window wont fog up. The A/C light won't come on though.

Lol...but it's not normal! I can close the vent by the door, but you can't close the middle vents. I just point them towards my wife and she yells at me and points them back . Hmmm....

did u remove your radio dash trim? if so, u could have thrown off how the switches are connected to the metal rod thingy. haha sorry dont know how to describe it. -chris

Did you do the a/c mod? There is a way to change the proportions of the air flow between the floor / defroster and the dash. On the drivers side under the dash there is a metal line connected from the heater control to the vent selector under the dash. This metal line has a black plastic sleeve on it that clips next to the vent selector. If you removed this line for any reason and did not put it back in the same spot it will throw off the proportions of air flow (this happened to me) All I did was move the black sleeve left and right till the air came out the way I wanted it to. Some people have problems with the hot setting not being hot and the cold not being cold. It seems that you can change the settings by doing this same procedure on the passenger side that controls the hot / cold mix. I will post a pic this afternoon for you to take a look at.

Hmm...I'll try this when I get home....I did take that line off when I pulled out my center trim around my radio to paint...I bet I put it back on wrong....thanks for the help!

ok i will explain simply i guess....

behind your whole a/c / heater control unit. there are cables that connect the turn knob thingy mabob to the selector under the dash. chances are the cable popped off or the clip the cable goes on broke....

it happened to me with 300 miles on the car, pain in the ass to fix i must admit.
