weird sticky crap on my top engine cover

No i didnt bust one on it either....
anyways i have only about 350 miles on the car, and i noticed that in the front i now have this sticky crap on my engine cover.
you know where the grating is on the plastic at the bottom.
im at work, so i cant pull the cover off, but its not oil as far as i can tell.

also, i want to take off the mazdaspeed and protege logos on the back of the car, will dental floss work ok, or are these bolted on?

I didnt try to wash it off, but i just dont get where it came from. It wasnt there when i got the car, or even last night.
Ill have to look tonight i guess.
I just thought this might have happened to someone else here.
Damn, i thought i could get the protege and mazdaspeed logos off no problem, that sux.

Is it black? I got the protector treatment crap fronm the dealer and lake villa, and the place they took it to got this black sticky s*** that's used in the engine bay all over the outside of the car. Pissed me off. Scrub it off before it ***** up the paint.
