Weird sound

Hey all,
Well first off I did the swiss cheese mod to my stock air box on my MS3.I have this sound (Not the BOV)that happens in low rpms (ie 2k-4k) when I accelerate and decelerate,Its hard to explain.So I take it to mazda and the mechanic and I take a spin.Right away he hears the sound and says it must be some vavle or actuator.I tell the guy what I did to the intake and that I added a boost gauge so he dont get surprised,He said dont worry I know why you did it.
So anyways I just got a call and they want me to buy and new air box for $180 so they can be sure that isnt causing the noise even tho I told them it was doing it before I modded the box.I asked if I get my money back after they find out that it wasnt from the box and he says No.So I said cant you just take one from another car to test and he said No.He also told me that my air box is getting too much air.I said that my car isnt giving a CEL so could to much air really be a problem?He said Yes.I said the maf sensor cant adjust for that and he told me No.
Finily I just told him Im not giving them $180 and Ill come get my car tomorrow.
What do you guys think about what they said?Is he right about to much air?

...that wierd sound..i hear it too, when im in 1st or 2nd gear i can hear it but its when i tap the gas around 2k rpms i ehar a sqeak and it sound like a little bird...which is wierd but next time i go to the dealer i wil drive with the guy in my car..air isnt making that noise...i have stock aribox with hks bov and it does the same s***...did it before bov so its the car

Its not a squeking sound.It almost sounds like Darth Vader exhales when I acelerate and decelerate in the low RPMs.
What ever it is it got louder when I did the mod to my box.I really think its something with the turbo system.Im going to try and record the sound but I dont have much hope the sound will be good enough.

alot of guys said they heard more suction from the turbo because of more air, they modded the airbox, some people even heard some stock bpv sounds...happens with the cai as well...if ur not throwing a cell ur car is fine...people said they even got hp gain from doing that to the box...im not sure if anyoe ever dynoed it but i think its normal...i had a 20 dollars air filter on my stock hosing and it made a sound like that when i gas it.....jsut air getting sucked in...

BPV sounds? What is that..Back Pressure Valve?

by pass valve..its the stock plactic thing that u replace for a blow off valve...,i duno about when u decelerate but i was gasing it and i heard loud suction..

By-Pass Valve. Instead of venting internal manifold pressure to the outside, it recirculates it to the front side of the throttle body to relieve pressure on the back side of the throttle body when you let off the gas.

I have my old stock air box still. Check if anyone in your area on this forum that installed the CAI still has the stock airbox that you can try.

I think that is just typical dealer tech crap. Sometimes you just get techs that really aren't that good. I had a Senior Tech at the Mazda dealer look at my car 3 times and even took out the #1 spark plug without taking out all the others (he didn't want to remove the TMIC) and tell me my plugs were fine. I checked all of them myself and found 2 that were cracked, causing my stuttering problem.

I guarantee that the MS CAI provides more airflow than drilling holes in the airbox. Therefore, why don't we have TOO much airflow when my A/F ratio is at 11.5 average under load at WOT and no CELs have been thrown since I installed the CAI?

Go to a different dealer.

Is this sound you hear when the car first starts up and you drive away in 1st and 2nd gear at low rpm's? If so, i wouldn't worry about anything. I hear it as well and my guess is that its because the car isn't warmed up all the way and you can just hear more noise from the turbo.

And about the whole "too much air thing", your dealership is full of crap. You aren't throwing any CEL's so I wouldn't worry about it.
