Weird noise when engine is cold?

:
03.5 YLW MSP
My p5 is making some werid noises that ive never heard before come from a car. When cold (car sitting overnight) the car does to things as oposed to when the engien is warm. It makes a chatterign noise for a split secound and it makes a chugging noise for lack of a better explaination when driving around untell the engine gets warm.

The motor doesn't leak/burn any fluids. The tranny shifts fine when cold and warm. New tires. The car has 153k miles on it I had the timing looked at and its right on time. The car has power when warm and cold.

So any ideas? I tried to answer every possable question that I can think of that woudl be asked. BTW the car is 100% stock

It sounds like your talking about the VTCS. at low temps it causes turbulence in the air flow through the intake manifold for a better mix when cold.

my p5 has the same problem with the chattering, but not the chugging. i think its the cams not being oiled when you first start up, and after the oil pump sends oil to the top, its fine after that. if you can, buy a pre oiler for your car. i picked one up for my air plane for only 800

Do you think the dealership will do the fix for the ECU and where and how do I install a preoiler?

I had a similar problem.......noise goes away when the car is nicely warmed up........it was the catalytic converter.......core had burned out and only rattled when cold, but stopped when the core heated and expanded. This should be a warranty item.

mine does the same thing...but it also does it if i rev to 5 grand, regardless of the temp....whats up with that?
