I started getting this noise about 2 weeks ago, I have no idea where it is coming from. It sounds like its coming from the front part of the engine. I tightened my valve cover, turbo manifold, downpipe, exhaust. I have no clue where it is coming from. I took a video of it, please watch it. The car normally stumbles when it starts. I'm thinking it is the VTCS or VICS sensors, but the noise I don't know what it is. You won't see the car stumble in the video.

Any ideas?

I don't have sound on my work computer, but is it only on cold start, and is it a quick "tap-tap-tap-tap"? If so, my P5 did it the entire time I owned it 90k-155k. My ex's P5 did it around 60k, and my MSP does it too.

It is a quick tap-tap-tap-tap, but it's not just on a cold startup, its the entire time the car is on and the tap-tap gets quicker as the RPMs get higher. It sounds like it's coming from the inside of the engine, I checked everything and everything is sealed shut.

My car just hit 70k miles and I've owned it for the past 4 years. I seriously don't know.

It doesn't sound like piston slap. Almost sounds like an exhaust leak out of your manifold.

Also note those look like lowes/ace/home depot bolts you have in your exhaust mani.. if that teh case they may of stretched a little.... I highly suggest replacing them and yoru exhaust mani gasket.

With proper studs/nuts/bolts. A local guy used Lowes bolts to bolt his Turbo to spipe. They came out and he had to replace them 3 times before he listened to me and got OEM stuff

Yea its an exhaust leak from between the manifold and the turbo. I put some soap in between the connection and it bubbled up. Those bolts are heat resistant from autozone.

I think ill get some JB Weld and seal the whole thing (naughty) lol jk

yea i sticker bombed the window panels on both doors, the center console and the cup holder/stick area

Get some nice ARP studs to match the Steedspeed Mani, using cheap hardware only wastes time and money in the long run.

Yea def sounds like manifold leak where it bolts to head though. Sounds like you can hear the 1 cylinder leaking in each revolution. You will definatley be able to tell when you start seeing black soot around the head or between manifold/turbo flange. I use a little high heat orange silicone on my gaskets to make better seal. Its the best gasket really. We strictly just use it only on our race car headers and dont even use a gasket. Gotta use very little on ours and be careful where you put it though. Just very light on the outside edge of gasket. You dont want excess to squeeze into inner part of manifold or by turbo to where it can get blowin into turbines, although im sure it would just blow right past them.
