Weight Reduction?

Show me #'s.

lol....let me go to my local skid plate testing factility...I'll be back later...(stooges)....

Okay...I'm back...

MSP - Skid Pad .88g - Slalom speed = 71.4mph
MS3 - Skid Pad .83g - Slalom speed = 63.5mph....

U=Fail

since people can say anything and not have facts to support it
Don't mind me, I was just poking our little puppet over here. He's easy to goad. There was another thread where, when provided with numbers, he insisted he was right anyway. It's funny that he wants numbers in this instance, since apparently he just ignores them out of hand.

Ha-ha!, LReyes66 this guy disagrees with everything I post out of spite. Don't mind him :)

There's ur #s Fanboi....

and as I stated earlier...This is not the point of this thread....you should stop cluttering up the OP thread with this BS...

To OP....Taking everything out of the car that is not necessary is good....Rear seats, passenger seat...spare tire, jack....stupid engine covers....it all adds up to time....

lmfao!!!! YOu picked the obsolute lowest #'s ever recorded for the Mazdaspeed3. You fail!

- Nice try :)

in light of the difference between the protoge and the ms3 , why is the protoge faster? There has to be some underlying difference for that vast difference in skid and slalom performance. Are we speaking of a modded protoge? vs stock ms3? Just curious.

It's not faster. Dude posted the lowest ever recorded #'s for the MS3.
- Actually I think the Mazdaspeed protege posted a sligtly faster slalom speed but that's about it.

The protege actually still wins.

speed3 = .87 skidpad, 67.7 slalom
ms protege = .88 skidpad and 72.3 slalom

slim margin of victory, but clearly wins the handling competition.

also the ms3 tends towards understeer, while the protege is more neutral and/or slightly oversteer.

Skid Pad tests are on the brink of being pointless. Tires make the Skid Pad!

Yes, you can get a mini-van to post fairly solid skidpad numbers if you put R-compounds on it. It's all about traction. Put R-compounds on the MS3 and it'd be up over 1.00 easy. At the same time, I think skidpad numbers are pointless. Who the hell drives around in a circle as fast as they can? Bring the car out on a road course and see which one accels.

Just as important tires are the sources of the test. A 200-ft skid pad test won't produce the same numbers as a 400-ft skid pad, one g-meter may produce different numbers than another, and one slalom setup or test methodology may be different from another and result in different times and speeds.

True. There's a bunch of different variables that can be used to determine a car's handling capabilities. However, when it's all said and done all that really matter's is which car gets around the track / course the fastest (My opinion) Having the right about of speed, grip, balance, etc. Oh, and let's not forget the driver mod.

A car can pull 2g's a skip pad but if it's lacking in other area's such as accleration for example then said car will still get beat around a track by a car with more balance even if it's skip pad #'s are much lower.

slower cars beat faster ones a lot in the curves. If you never have to slow down and can hammer the crap out of the turns you will be quicker overall. But most really slow cars are s*** handling too.....

+1 smoother is faster
