Weekend Projects

I ordered Denso one step colder plugs and hope to get new boost tubes from a group buy on another forum. I'm going to replace my tubes and clamps while I have the intercooler off to change out the plugs. The plugs will be here before the weekend but the tubes will probably not be.

I put an Amsoil dry filter on my Cobb SRI today. That thing makes the intake a bit louder!

Now that we're into the new year, I have to get serious about getting the Miata painted. I think I have enough saved up for the task. I just need to find a painter, now. I've got some places to check out; but, I don't want to drive the Miata in the rain to have it looked at. If I'm not careful, show time will be here before I can get the car ready.

I went to see a painter, yesterday. I wanted someone who will take pride in his work. I think I found him. I'll take it to him in February to have the Miata painted so I can finally get rid of the dings and faded/thin 1990 paint. He's also going to have his buddy redo the seats for me, while he's repainting it. Hopefully, it'll look like new, when he gets it done. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about it.

If you don't mind, let us know how the seats turn out; I need to find a good upholstery shop to recover the back seat of my 2002.

OK; but, this guy is in Somerset. I'm betting you have a shop, nearby. We have some, around here; but, he likes his buddy's work. I saw a couple of examples and liked it, myself. Still, if one lives very far from the guy, it doesn't make sense to go there.

Ae you going with a new coat of Red, or something else?

I'm going back with the red. It's my second first generation with that color. I had silver on the '06 and didn't like it as much as the red. My wife liked that color because it looked more expensive. Besides, I've seen too many cars repainted in another color and have bits of the old color showing though in hidden places. It's just easier to go back with the old color. I'll be tickled pink if it just looks good. I'm going to have more in this little '90 NA than my '06 was worth. It had better look pretty good, I guess.

With the new seat covers, new OEM type floor mats, and new paint, it should be pretty nifty. I hope so because it'll be shown in April. Last year, I was apprehensive about taking the RX-7 to its first show; but, it did well. I think the Miata will be much better. It should turn a lot of heads and get the kind of respect Miatas should get. I hope so, anyway.

LED Interior.

I got my LED Interior and Tag lights in the mail today and will install them tomorrow.

No. These will replace the two map lights, dome light, trunk light and the two license plate lights. The LED's are Cool white and will appear slightly blue unlike the yellow stock lights. They are supposed to be much brighter also. You can get them in Red or Blue but will not be as bright as white. I've seen pictures of a Speed 3 with the blue LED's and it looks cool as hell but not very functional due to the decrease in light output. I'm a little old for colored lights anyway.

How old is old? I would have thought you to be a young'un. I'm the old one. I got my monthly SSA payment, yesterday. It's awful having a young mind in an old body. (notcool)

Still waiting on the first of Feb so I can get the Miata painted. Arrrgh!

You're gonna love the LED interior lights. I think getting a non-white color is a pretty bad idea because of the lack of functionality you already pointed out. Those blue-hued cool white lights are amazing though! Did you get the license plate lights too?

By the way, I think I have my Redline Quicklift situation under control now. I'll give it a few more days before I decide, but I'm going to give them glowing reviews. Best customer service I've ever encountered.

I'm glad to hear everything is working out on the hoodlifts. Are you going to add them after all? It is a worth while mod. I did get the tag lights and I'm going to install everything today.

I'm not collecting SS yet but I'm 47 years old and Have always enjoyed performance cars. I'll probably be 90 years old and still have a sports car. If I get to old to drive I'll pay some high school kid to haul ass around town with me in the passemger seat.

I actually installed the hoodlifts again on Monday. I'm just giving them a few days before I decide they are going to actually work out this time (2 cars, 3 install failures... long story).

Just installed my LED interior lights and all I have to say is that I wish I had done it earlier. It cost $30 to replace the two map, dome, trunk and two tag lights. The lights are cool white with a hint of blue and I'm glad I did not get the blue LED's because these are slightly blue without being Rice. The lights are brighter than stock and I always thought the stocks were too weak. Everyone should do this mod.
