Found this thread from your new wifey pic in the Member Pics thread...Congrats once again man...I wish you lots of happiness and good times in the future! :D

I'm not sure if I'd like so many diamonds set into the band once I see the ring in person -- but I'm just in love with this style in general.

I definitely leaned towards the multi-stone as well, but I didn't want just diamonds. I love rubies (also happens to be my birthstone), so when I found the ring I wanted - center princess cut with a tapered baguette diamond on each side - we ended up changing out the center diamond for a ruby. My band 'matches', with alternating tiny princess cut rubies and diamonds along the top. Both are white gold of course. Looks soooo pretty together, can't wait to start wearing it.

My man wanted a simple titanium band, but when his grandfather found out we were engaged, that changed. He's getting his grandfather's wedding band - plain yellow gold - that was worn through the depression and 4 years of fighting in the war. His grandparents were married for 60 years... it's not exactly what he was wanting for a wedding band, but it can't be surpassed for the sentimental value and history it holds.

And yes congrats!!!

This is my wedding set

Wow, cool story.

That's awesome!

.. I dunno if it's possible or what his grandfather would think, but did you ever consider having the metal of the ring made into something else? I dunno, if you could melt down the gold and put it into a new ring whose style he choose? Maybe some kinda titanium/gold combo?

Yeah, we were both very surprised by this, but extremely happy as well. It will definitely be treasured. His grandfather is in his early 90's and lives out in PA (fiance is in Wichita), and will unlikely be able to make the trip, but they have a lot in common with very similar personalities. There's a picture of his grandfather before he went off to the war (about 21) and supposedly my fiance could be his twin, they look so much alike. I'm really hoping we can get out there sometime next year as I would love to meet him.

I did ask him about this, or perhaps getting titanium added to the outside of the band - so the yellow gold is a strip down the center - or something to that effect. He has decided against doing anything like that, for the time being at least.

That's a nice ring!!! Too plain for my tastes.
To re-cap,
My first choice
:
1
Corona Timascus Titanium ring from Titaniumera.com

Timascus is the combination of two or more titanium alloys fashioned in the same manner as Damascus steel used to make Japanese swords.
Colorful Timascus, aka White Timascus (CP Titanium and 6AL-4V Titanium). Various different colors are produced through the use of heat and anodizing on the 2 titanium grades). Each ring of White Timascus alloy has its very own distinctive colors and design. Do not choose anodizing for the Colorful Timascus, it already has color.

Black Timascus (CP Titanium and Zirconium). Its color is two-toned, when heated the Zirconium turns black and the CP titanium is a whitish grey. Each ring of Black Timascus has its own pattern making each piece very special and unique.
Most of the models shown below are available in both the Colorful Timascus and the Black Timascus. No two rings are alike.

4
Black Rainbow titanium ring from gilletts.com.au

I like the 2nd and third one.

My husband would not go for diamonds on his...so plain was better for him. That blue one is pretty cool though.

The first one would drive me nuts. I could not imagine that middle piece protruding out more than the other ends.

I don't wear my wedding ring that often. (doesn't bother the wife at all) I don't need a ring to tell me I am married.

The ball and chain are enough.

I would hate that right now if my husband did not wear his. Once he becomes an officer I know he will not though. I guess is just me that it bothers. :(

I like the looks of the first one -- but yeah, that middle piece sticking out like that is gonna suck after about five minutes. It's gotta be jabbing into the fingers next door.

Next choice is number two. I'm not a fan of number three .. The purple and green sheens just strike me as odd.

Gotta get over it and realize, it's a safety issue. Criminals could use that as a weakness, and it could get him hurt or killed.

I 'lost' my original wedding band (been married 18 years now) one year up at the chalet while fighting with a snow blower. I was terribly upset about and decided I would never deal with this again so went to jeweler I buy everything from and asked for a simple 6mm gold band. That way if I lose it I can go to any local jewelry store and get another. This way, I avoid the 'I cant believe how you lost your wedding ring, guess you didnt feel like being married afterall?' joking from the lovely mrs... my dad felt bad about it and went up there with his high $ metal detector and actually found the ring. and I wear it on special occasions.

so moral of the story? Cool rings are neat, just dont get too attached to them or buy a spare?
