Does anybody know how to remove wax that has gotten onto the sides of the roof rack? I waxed w/Mothers about 5 mos ago and the s*** is still white swirlies on parts of my rack. I tried not to get any on it but there's still some there. Does anyone know of a permanent way to remove this? I've tried Armoralling the racks but that lasts about 2 days then it's back to the white swirlies. Please help, I'm 'bout to Sharpie the damn thing (j/k but still...). Thanks!

Rubbing alcohol ususally works very well for this. It also works wonders on tree sap. It will not harm the paint.

Hrmmmm... I shall have to try this tonight. So it will work even though it's 5 mos old? Thanks for the tip... :D

i have had that problem for about a month now. i just rubbed some alcohol on it and it made my WHOLE rack rail white. gosh darnit... what did i do wrong?

mothers back to black. -=) works awesome.. just dont get it on your paint.

Mothers BtoB won't run will it? What is it specifically made for? Like I said I did the Armorall thing (I was desperate before a meet and it seemed to work temporarily) but it ran all down onto my paint. I don't want to jeopardize the paint at all so I gotta be sure. Thanks!

back to black didn't work very well for me, i scrubbed the crap out of it, but i iahvn't tried isopropyl alcohol....

I've heard Hot Peanut butter will do it. Havn't had a chance to try it but it's worth a try. I also tried rubbing alchol and it didn't work at all.

Hot peanut butter? Well, I guess I can see that working, what with the oils and all breaking down the wax. We shall see. Although I can guarantee that I'd get some pretty strange looks if someone sees me spreading PB all over my rails! :D

Did you use a sponge or some type of absorbant cloth? If not, the rubbing alcohol will just smear stuff around and won't really pick it up.

Ok, I just talked to a detailing buddy of mine and he said if the Alcohol doesn't cut it to use Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer.

Personally I've never tried the stuff, but a 10oz bottle runs $2.99. Here is the description from the website:

"Gold Class Trim Detailer uses new technology to instantly restore color and richness to faded and discolored trim and molding...but the amazing part is how Trim Detailer protects the surface so well that the "like new" appearance lasts for weeks...not days. Trim Detailer also removes unwanted contaminants and wax residue. Use on porous and non-porous black surfaces like plastic bumpers and trim, moldings, air vents, window trim and window blades and arms. "

Try using some tire shine on a waxing pad or soft cloth, Just a little bit though, and be careful not to get on paint, works awesome! Used on mine and my buddies P5 roof racks.

I have the same problems..w/ the wax on the Roof Rack..If peanut butter doesn't work...Try cleaning it..when it's really really hot out...I did it when it was almost 100degrees outside..It just came right out...w/ my fingers..
