Hey guys, I need some help deciding on what springs to get. I have the springs off of the MP3 right now. I want something that is lower and will give me the same or better handling. I want to have as little wheel gap as possible.

Any advice? Please help?

I don't have the money for expensive coilovers so please don't bring those up.

i think Spool Springs have the lowest drop (2 inch drop all around) and they run about $200...

now i dont know tooo much about lowering cars but since you will be lowering your center of gravity wont you be pretty much guranteed better handling?

id say go with the spools, they seem proven. plus terry is just a cool guy, and helps out a lot on the forum. Id rather give my money to him then some other big company. plus you will barely have any wheel gap. hopefully i will have mine on soon. i have had them for about 2 months now.

Does anyone know how long until they come in? It says on the web site mid-april. It's late april and they still say sold out.

You guys don't have opinons on any other springs. Here is what I know...

Spool: $199.99, 2" front, 2" rear

Sprint: $168.00, 2" front, 2" rear

Tein: $205.00, 2" front, 1.5" rear

Gold Line: $139.99, 1.75" Front, 1.75" Rear

Eibach: $199.69, 1.4" front, 1.2" rear

H&R: $229.00, 1.3" front, 1.3" rear

I have no idea what the ride quality is compared to the MP3 springs or compared to the stock MP5 springs. This is what I am looking for. These are prices that I can get.

I jut got a shipment of 15 and they are already sold out! Except for one set, let me know if you want it.
As of know we are not doing group buys on the springs since they sell out before we get them
thanks

this is a response i got from Spool regarding a group buy... the email was dated 4/21/2003 @ 5:06 PM (pst)

It's about .75"to 1" lower than stock. My wife's car is a stock 2003 P5 and when they sit next to each other I can tell mine is lower by a little bit. I just don't like the wheel gap.

Come on guys, I seriously looking at buying springs tomorrow. Don't know if I want the Eibachs because I don't think they are low enough. Don't know about the Tein's because I heard they were soft. Spool's would be great if they weren't sold out. I am also thinking about the Sprint Springs but no one seem to have those or know anything about them. I just don't want to buy something and be disappointed.

Call AutoRnD... they may have some Spool Springs in stock (ya never know)...

What about Gold Line springs, 1.75 all around is a good drop for me and the $139.99 price tag is unbeatable. I saw someone mention that these are done by the same guy that does Eibach, does anyone have these springs?

i would go with the eibach or tein...more biased to the eibachs because i've dealt with lots of eibach in other cars...and know that they are quality and performance made...good luck though

I really like the Tein's and I can get a good price on them. I think I torn between the Tein's (2", 1.5") and the Gold Line's (1.75", 1.75"). I really don't think that .25" will make that much difference.

I've had eibach on my ride for 7 months and love them. But you just won't see much of a difference with eibach. I'd say wait it out and get the spool springs crayz_d. I haven't heard enough on the tein to have feedback on them...

everyone on this list that has the Spool Springs swears by them... plus SpoolinMP3 participates on this site... i dont think anyone who works for Eibach, Goldline, or Tein participate on this site...

I am a total rookie when it comes to installing things on a car, or working on cars. When you get the springs, is there anything else that needs to be installed with it? 200 dollars sounds damn good. Thanks

new Struts should be installed... but you should be able to go for a little while without replacing them.... the bad part is that no one really makes after market struts for our car yet... the only Struts available so far (that i know of) are listed below...

Mazda MP3 Struts :: $460
Mazdaspeed Struts :: $650
JIC Magic Struts :: $1500 ~ $1800

Yea, my suspension has already been upgraded to the full MP3 struts, springs, and stabalizer bars. I am just upgrading the springs.

did you notice better handling when you got the Struts, Springs, and Stabilizer bars? was it a major improvement, or just a slight improvement?
