Hey Guys,

I have done searchs for this and need sew up some details. I would like to replace my stock flywheel with a lighter one and also add poly engine mounts and Kartboy shifter bushings. (Power to the ground!:) I have no plans for turbo etc. Heres the question. With these mods will it be necessary to replace my stock clutch as well? It should have no problem handling my extra 4-5hp and freer reving engine, right?

You should have no trouble keeping the stock clutch, now would be the time to change it if you ever want to though, since you will be looking it in the face when you install the flywheel. It won't hurt anything to leave it in there though... Good luck.

Clutch continued

I suppose that makes sense. A Stage I clutch from RR would be more responsive than my stock clutch as well? Or would there not be much gain in that department?

The stage 1(bought from rr-racing) I had in my old 1994 Probe GT made a huge difference... It won't ever slip, and still has a nice smooth engagement. It and the 9lb fidanza flywheel made for a great change in driving overall. After the change, I thought it was funny when I chirped 3rd gear at the 2nd to 3rd gear change. ;)

I hear ya.

You know, I think that helps me make up my mind. I was worrying about cost vs. performance gain and all this time I was neglecting the Fun To Drive Factor! Also helps with knowing how much to save! Motor mounts, shifter bushings, flywheel and clutch = grin on face when putting down right foot.

Yep! Chirping from 1st-2nd, and 2nd-3rd brings out the that ohhhh! I can vouch for this. I have the Fidanza 8 1/2 lb Flywheel, and the ACT clutch. I can't wait to see how it all reacts to the Turbo kit!
