Wanna Trade? My JSPEC MR2 4 your MP5?

Well, before we get to the trading thing, I think it would be better if I asked about your guy's cars. How you like the MP5? WHat dont you like? How reliable has it been for you? I am really interested in an MP5 but I dont know anyone who has one. Are they really slow and undepowered? Can you get a surfboard up top? Insurance bad?


Now for the trade, I am really looking to buy an MP5 but maybe we could trade. I have a 1991 MR2 with a recently swapped J-Spec motor. This is a turbo motor and Cartune Motosports installed it. If you want more info please email me. I will get pictues as soon as I can. This car is pushing 250 HP and all I have is intake.

How much should I expect to pay for a used 01-02 P5 with a sunroof? I really like the silver and the black P5 the best.

By the way, I would trade my ca plus cash, but if you are only going to cedit my car for about 4 k, then you can have the car without the motor

maybe another 1.5k for an 03 P5.
My car only has 4500 miles on it and I wouldnt take less than 18k for it.

this one time we went to cartune a dude went there with 2 mr2s...the deal was to trade in one mr2 and cash for a JDM mr2 motor swap. Maybe that was you???

Actually your car is only worth 4,990 TOPS. And that only if it has 80,000 miles or less, is loaded with all options and in perfect condition. What mods you have done or anything else aftermarket only negitivly affect the value of the car. Doesn't matter what mods you do to it, it won't make the value go up anyway.

Anyway...for your question, most everyone here LOVES their P5. I wouldn't say it's underpowered, just horsepower challenged. It really makes up for it in the twisties though. Fun as hell on those backroads. Insurance is not bad compared to other new cars. Although a GEICO rep told me over the phone that all Mazda cost more to insure because they are "sporty". Been very reliable so far, but I would expect not to have problems after just 12,000mi.

I've been seeing them on Autotrader as low as $11-12K.

Surfing e-Bay is fun too -- quite a few never get bid on with asking prices in the $11-12K range. One 2002 yellow MP5 got sold for $9100. But it was keyed and had a softball-sized dent (not too bad) in the hatch. Still...

A few of these have 20-30K miles and are the original 2002s bought in 2001. But others were bought in 2002 (after March, 2002, the 2002.5 had a few updates).

P.S. I paid $16200 for a new silver, ABS/moon.side bags. A lucky few have been getting base P5s new in the upper $14K range.
