Gentlemen I have a problem with my walbro fuel pump and when I crank it to start it takes like 5 to 10 secs to start rather than 1 to 2 seconds.... after that it runs fine and another question when you set the key on "On" (before you crank it to start the car) does it suppose to turn on like get the buzzing sound indicating its on... or no? any info would be great and any suggestions on how to fix the problem that would be great....Thanks...

Yeah you'll hear it, it is much more audible than the stock one.

Not sure about your starting issue... MSP ecu or what? Maybe post in the MSP turbo forum if so?

so is my pump in working order because I feel like my starter is going to break down when I start my car. does it suppose to take for eternitiy to start and does the pump suppose to turn on when you turn the key to "on"?

could be priming the pump turn the key on first let it prime for a few seconds and start it up see if that helps.

yes it should, it should build pressure so that your car can start fast when you crank it.

No it doesn't. The fuel pump turns on when it gets a trigger signal fro mthe crank. (After the first revolution it turns on.)

What's your fuel pressure? Pull the pump and check the connections, if your pickup is off even just a smidge it won't get the fuel it needs.

the pump should turn on with the acc hits on position, the injectors dont fire until the first turn of the crank...

My walbro in my Subaru was the same. I would turn it to the "on" position for a couple of second before cranking and it would start fine. And yes you can hear it too.

It doesn't. The fuel pump relay is not activated until a trigger signal is recieved. My fuel press. gauge wont' move from 0 until the engine completes a revolution. You can leave it in ACC or ON all day long and your fuel pump won't activate.

every car I have ever changed a FP on has activated once the car was in the on position, not cranking. I could be wrong, but im pretty sure that is the case in this scenario. The pump "primes" and allows fuel to be on tap when you crank the motor.

Nope. Trust me, I've checked through BOTH my fuel pressure gauges and the pump is NOT activated until after one revolution.

In most cars..(ALMOST ALL) the fuel pump does fire up for a pre-determined amount of time when the ignition is moved to the On(Run position) then shuts off until the car is cranked over. It does this for pressure priming for starting.
Now I dont know if the protege does this..but I dont see why it would not considering this is almost the norm amongst all manufacturers.

Okay, it just doesn't though. It's one of the oddballs. Trust me.
