i have a wagner shorty header that has been rattling since about a month after i installed it. so i uninstalled it and checked everything, it looked ok, i retightened it and the rattle subsided. it came back a couple weeks later and it was worse. i took it apart again and noticed my gasket between the header and pre-cat was blown, so i removed it and just did without it. but the rattle was still there. so now i was thinking the pre-cat may be dead, so i asked nate0123, who is using the OBX header if i could steal his and the gasket. so today im taking everything apart to try the new gasket/pre-cat, and i see the welds around runner 4 are shot to s***. can i use JB Weld on this (never used it before) or do i have to send it back to andy?

Looks like "Wagner's welds BLOW!" as well.

Britt

call joe at wagner becuase all of there parts have life time warranty Im sure they will fix it or replace it.

I've got wagner shorty too, no probs so far. I'd call Wagner... they'll sort it out for you I'm sure. Considering all his stuff is hand made... occasional failure has to be expected.

thanks for the responses. i called them, but they are closed today, so i left a message. i put it on last august or september, so i'd say probably 7-8,000 miles or so. looks like i'm gonna put the stock manifold back on for now..hopefully this will get resolved quickly...

if wagner doesn't take care of it, just get it rewelded somewhere else and then send the thing in to get jet-hot coated for durability. it'll cost a bit, but if you are happy with the gains on the wagner, then definitely go that route.

yeah, i just dont want to pay for something that isnt my fault.

i've thought about the jet-hot, but im kinda broke right now...

Hmm. Remove the little cross piece in the middle totally, then heat the tubes up, red hot, then reform them so they make a cross, themselves, and the tubes all meet at the corners. A friend and myself did this, then welded the cross section, and it held up LOTS better than the little section welded in place. That's my suggestion.

Here's basically what I meant, before, and after. =)

Do you have the mild-steel or the SS header? because I have the SS header and I have'nt had any problems at all. Oh and Andy is a very cool guy just tell him what happened he always tries his best to help out customers.

Wagner's a good guy. If a weld is faulty he'll fix it for you. No need to bash another vendor and potentially run them away.

p.s. I've worked with Wagner in person. The dude welds like nothing I've seen before. This could've possibly been done by another of his employee's. In ither respect he does good work and makes quality items.

p.p.s. as for his design, he mad more power at the wheels WITH the stock emissions equipment than OBX got with their 4-1 header that removes the cat. Obviously something in his deisgn works well.
