Anybody running one?
I found them on an RX8 forum and ultimately on a site for sale.
They can be bought for MX-5 apps but from what I understand this is the same thread as our MS3 shifter.

Price was very reasonable for a wrinkle black, powdercoated, 2" dia aluminum ball shape. You can also get piano black PC, polished, plain spun aluminum, pearl silver PC, and other finishes along with custom laser engraving if you want.

Not sure how the weight of it would effect shifting but can't be too bad.
Site says thread is M10 x 1.25

I want something bigger and more grippy than stock.

i used to have one in my protege. they are very nice, but i didnt like the shaft collar, and now i have a collarless steel OBX knob. get the magnum size if you are worried about it being too small. they are alluminum, too, so they shouldn't be much different in weight from the stock MS3 knob. (the later mazda knobs have some good heft)

Hah! I ate it!

I will admit it has no flashy looks or aluminum or screws on it but that's not what I'm after. I want grip. Mazda has a mazdaspeed knob that's made of some sort of black, synthetic rubber like stuff that I wanted at one time but it's a bit pricey for me. Not even sure it's available anymore. It was for the RX8. All I want is a bigger knob with more grip - function over looks all the way for me.

if you can swing the price, get a TWM knob. they are VERY heavy and shift nice, they just dont have the grippy-ness that the voodoo knobs have.

Yeah not a bad idea.
I've made a half dozen knobs out of glue-ups using mahogony, oak, maple, and cherry. What I liked was your ability to control the size and shape to your own desires. I made some pretty big knobs and they were great. I broke a couple of them though. I considered going that route again but the look of real wood doesn't sit as well with me in this interior. Sort of an old school look in a high tech car.

I made them in the past for a Shelby Cobra replica I once owned, and it had a wood wheel so I wanted the knob to match. Not sure if I put pics up on the web or not but I don't think so. It's been a LONG time. They broke on occasion because of shifting the T3550 in that thing HARD.

I dunno.....might have to think about turning one again and just staining it black and then applying several coats of poly. I would have to buy a M10 x 1.25 tap for threading it too. McMaster sells a set with all three taps.....for $42.15.
The Voodoo knob is only $38!

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a Voodoo shift knob on my MS3. I got it from my buddy who bought it for this S2000 and didn't like it. I had to rethread the shift knob but I really like it! It works especially well for people with big hands...

I use Voodoo knobs in my MS3 and Miata. Prices are better than comparable knobs, and very comfortable. I can't believe some of the people that pay nearly $100 for a shift knob! My used Voodoo Magnum cost $20 shipped :) .
