2009 Mazdaspeed3
09 Mazdaspeed 3 GT early in the morning. I received the car with only 12 miles on it the night before. I got up at first light for this drive.

Don't worry, I took it easy (drive) (well, mostly) (drive2)

Nice ride. And welcome to the forums. I bought my 09 sport CWP with 13 miles on it. Almost broken now. 50 miles or so to go till 600

Disappointed because I was expecting something different clicking on this thread, but nice nonetheless.

just an opinion....take off the dealer plate ASAP....its just a few quick screws, but you will have two small holes in the bumper. however it is totally worth it.

Already did it. Agreed that it looks way better that way. I think it was these pics that made me really notice them.

I should maybe start a new thread, but what's the consensus on proper break in for these cars?

your pics make me wish i was still in the pacific NW!
excellent car!

i can't believe we are about to start the whole new car break in method debate...(bicker)

Welcome to the boards!! you are going to love this car!

Any package or option changes for the 2009 Speed3? Mazda's site still only shows 08 info.

I think it's the same as an 8.5 which as I can tell was mostly about updating the interior. Mine came w/ an aluminum gas door but I think that's an old option.

I'm really lucky that road is close to my house. I should have guessed that break-in was a spent topic here. I'll do some more searching. My first search didn't really give good hits.

btw., djthom, how are you liking your mods over stock?

Short and sweet!

Change oil as soon as convenient, sooner the better, Synthetic OK, 3-4000 RPM first 4-500 miles 4500RPM to 750 miles. Occasional blips of boost won't kill you.
DO NOT RIDE ALONG AT SAME SPEED FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME; vary speed !(NO Cruise Control).
This will help set rings, valves, transmission and clutch/flywheel and still not over task or under task motor/ transmission / suspension.
WOT after that, Change oil 1k-3K after breakin. Use free oil changes if in a pinch from dealer/ learn to do your own (30 min with Synthetic/OEM filters) ever 3K-3500K miles, 5w-30W, possible 10/30-40 in super hot area's though not recommended by OE.
Short and sweet!

Nice 09! I have one as well and love it! Break in involves just varying the RPM's a bunch. Dont keep them at a constant for very long. every so often while cruising let off the gas and let it suck some oil up on the cylinders. Also dont feel like you have to baby it constantly, get a load on the motor every so often. and get your oil changed early :p
