VID of Celica GT-S Speedo from 25-120

Honda used the b18c5 in the elise at first, I believe they are using a tuned version of the celica motor.

I thought that Lotus was developping a 250hp Honda motor in an Elise. I seem to remember seeing a video of the Toyota powered vs Honda powered Elises...

anyways, the car in that video is nice, I would imagine though that he started in second first because of the 'redline' (which he obviously passed each time) and the relating mph. the first shift was just after redline for 1st...

No arguement from me here. That is a smooth motor in the video.

I dont care how good or smooth the stock celica motor is.. THAT ONE is silky smooth. modded, duh... but thats the point... that thing is like a bike. Yamaha did a good job on that engine.

I'd rather the Toyota engine in the Elise... I don't know about the rest of you, but [Honda] having (rough figures, select engines) 170+ HP and only 110 torque just leaves me wondering what's going on in there...

The more and more I look at Honda engines, the more and more I keep asking "Where's the torque?" Hell, my friend with an S2000 is jealous of my torque and of my car only loosing ~1k RPM during a shift.

anyway.. back to the topic. I love the sound of a tuned engine... that thing sings.

Edit: Now that I look at the Toyota stats posted earlier, Apparently the Celica lacks in torque too, but just not as badly. Hopefully ya'll see my point, though

True, the honda lacks torque although the k20a honda motor will have some more being that it is a 2.0 vs 1.8.

umm the celica engine is not silky smooth. Honda makes much better engines than toyota especially when it comes to variable valve timing.

Umm....Hondas VTEC is like a On/off swtich unless it has itelligence.
i think the Celicas VVTi is more advanced.

Be we all know Porsches Variable Valve timming dominates all..... (rockon)

I wonder if that is on the road or on rollers? There doesn't seem to me any tire/road/wind noise. That might explain why it was so fast...

actually the BMW's Valvetronic system is the shizzy:

it doesn't even have a throttle body. variable lift and timing. it does it all

Jesus christ that thing ran like my old CBR 600. Definetly quick.

However, that seems like it's on rollers..But eh, whatever.

Yeah that definetely wasn't on the road, and it was definetely not stock. I used to have a 2001 GT-S, and i've hit 145 in it, so i know how it goes. I had intake, exhaust, short shifter, that's about it.
