Vibration Problems Please help me

I was wondering is anyone else who has a Mazda Protege 2.0 exspeirencing any vibration or rattling problems. I have been very upset about my car and I am looking for the nearest cliff to drive it off of. But being in FL with no cliffs leaves me at a disadvantage. I took my car to gunther Mazda and I told them aboutmy problem. They at first wanted to balance my engine and I waslike listen I am a female I know and I am young but don't pull that crap with me I only have 11,000 miles on my car and it's already giving my problems. I told them to check my rotors becuase it was only doing it when my foot was on the break. Well they claim they checked them and that they were fine but they adjusted my idle. Well now it does it when my foot isn't on the break it does it while in park and I am frankly quite upset. I dind't buy a BRAND new car 2001 to have all these problem. Not to mention I made a tech drive with me so I could point out exactly what vibration it was and he says it's suposse to be like that. Then I got very upset and said If it is suposse to be like that why in the hell dind't it do it when I bought the car. He claims it's because it was getting use to my driving pattern. personally I don't think anycar should vibrate. Iasked to test drive a 2001 on the lot and see if it vibrates and he told me the engine is different which made no sense to me so it must be a engine problem can someone help me. Also I am looking to buy and MP3 is anyone having problems with those:confused:

Damn, he could have made a better excuse than THAT. I would have told you that the vibration shaking the car was a FEATURE of the car... it comes as a integrated mobile built-in milk-shaker! :D

"Getting used to my driving pattern"... what does he think we're in... the space age? I think he watched too much Jetson cartoon. Was he old enough to be fixing a car? :D

That's pitiful how a mechanic/service rep would try to screw around with their customer's intelligence. They most likely do NOT want to fix your car, in that case... just take it to another dealer to have it fixed. Warranty carries on through every Mazda dealership. When you receive your survey on how that original dealership is performing, just pencil in less than satisfactory and they are phucked on the records (of course, some don't give a damn in my opinion).

Oh, just read through this forum cuz I think most MP3 owners (including me) are fairly happy with their ride. Some don't like the different stereo system models. Z919 being the non-removable face unit, but I think it is a newer model compared to the REMOVABLE face unit of the Z828 (which is what I have).

I've had minor problems with the bushings squeaking on my car, but warranty covered so they were replaced and lubed free of charge. Other than that, no complaints just yet... but then I've had my car less than 4 months.... maybe I'll discover a milk-shaker within my car soon!?!? (let's hope not!) :D

Well, I know that the MP3 is suposse to be a good car, and I am sure it is. The thing is my protege is nothing but problems in the last 5 months in May my car will be a year old. I loved my car when I first got it, Then I had to replace my tires at 9,500 miles I wasn't happy with that being they are 60,000 mile tires. But My car is not a milk shaker as you call it lol. But I think you are right I should take it to another dealer. If that doesn't work I am looking to either sell it or total the dang thing. But yea the guy was a jerk I am having a guy take my car to the dealer to deal with it. I think they just wanna hassle me cause I am a female. But I love Mp3's I would love to have one...What color is yours?

go back in and talk to the Service Manager and only the Sevice Manager. If he give you the run around call mazda north america.

sorry to here about your bad dealership problem i love my dealership they are cool as hell.

I really lucked out with my purchase of my car. I've got a big family and it turned out that I have a 3rd cousin who works as the service manager there, so when I have an issue she makes sure it's fixed immediately. :D

Freekwonder is right tho, the service manager is the one to speak with about problems and complaints about how things are running.

Yeah, probably should try to get a hold of the service manager to see if they can't still take a shot at the problem. No way I would have left that parking lot with my car without feeling 100% satisfied of a solution.

I actually had a problem with my Kenwood Z828/subwoofer, because no bass was being produced from the sub. This was around the first two weeks after I first made the MP3 purchase.

The mechanics and service rep (2 mechanics or 3... 1 service rep) after taking an awful 2 hours of investigation came to the conclusion that nothing was wrong with the sound system. They insisted that it was functioning properly and that was how it suppose to sound. I laughed at them, shook my head and asked them to pop the trunk so I could prove my point. I tuned into a hip hop radio station and told them the song should have quality bass coming from this sub.

Basically, I told them flat out, there is NO bass coming out of this system and that "anyone with a normal hearing" KNOWS what bass sounds like. There was definitely power coming out of the system, but no bass. I said that I've taken this car over to Custom Sound, and Circuit City, both audio installers from those stores have told me that there is something not right about it and could be the subwoofer bad (turns out to be the Z828 with a bad connection). I finally said, this is a new car and I want that thing fixed. Two of the mechanics went over to the trunk and looked into the subwoofer a few moments commenting about something, then finally they said they'll investigate the matter further.

In the meantime they gave me a rental car to go home with. Not to mention later during the day I receive a phone call saying that they had ordered a replacment for my Z828 because that was the source of the problem.

Honestly, I think you just need to put your feet down and be a little bit MORE stubborn (persistent, I should say). These mechanics and service reps (I've dealt with both Mazdas in my town) will try to get away from doing their job properly if they can.

It's your car, I'd make FULL use of that warranty to make sure the problem doesn't come back AFTER the warranty expires.

Well, best of luck... this is a common problem with services at ANY dealership, so you just need to sock it to them hard! :D :D

Well, The thing is the person I was dealing with was the service manager and I toook my keys put my foot down threw them at him told him to take the damn car and fix it. He told me to stop cause people would hear me and not want to purchase cars from them cause of the poor service and no one would want a Protege, and I said to him why not if it's suposse to vibrate people might like it. He then took my keys and pretended to fix it. When I got it back he shut my keys in the car with locked doors, and goes Oh I hope you have another key. I told him you know what take the damn car I don't want it anymore. I am beggining to think I should have taken my mom up on the offer of getting the 2001 Lexus IS300 fully loaded in laser blue. But I think you guys are right I should take my car to another dealership seeings how this one is getting me no where.

Ok after reading what an idiot your current dealership is, I'd not only take it another dealership for service etc, but I'd DEFINITELY make a call to Mazda USA and lodge a formal complaint against them. Dealerships can actually lose their license to sell Mazda vehicles if head office isn't pleased with them so the best way to fight them is to use the system to your advantage.

Thank you very much. I never knew what power I had by filing an complaint. I think You are right they are being idiots. I hope to get my car fixed and fixed right soon if not tomorrow :) Well thanks again for the help

Yikes, Heather...find another dealer. Plus get the Mazda regional rep involved. Hell, get the local TV station involved! Many markets have a "problem solver" on staff that would love to get a story like this.

"Raise Hell and set a chunk under it", as my grandmother would always said.

Bob

P.S. You mentioned you had to replace the tires at 9500 miles. Why?

I have no clue why I had to replace the tires at 9,500 miles they were worn evenly which it would not have done even if I drove the car crazy. Which I don't do.....I really dont' understand why they wore evenly and to the point of being dangerous.

While we are on the subject of shady dealership people, I've had nothing but crap from mine. The day I went to buy my car, everyone I delt with was cool. Unfortunatly, both the guy that sold me the car, and the person that worked with me on financeing, don't work there anymore. And everyone else sucks ass. If you want more info check the "important question" thread in the Protege5 general section.
