Vibration in Neutral ?

My 2.3L engine has a fairly significant vibration at just over 2000rpm...I am guessing around 2050.
As soon as I rev the engine past 2000, it smooths out, and below 2000 its fine as well. I can only feel the vibration when the car is in neutral

could someone please try it and let me know if it has same problem

could be motor mounts

My 2.0 did the same thing. Right at 2000, it felt like there was a slight miss on one cylinder. A tech on another board described it as 'harmonics' of both engines. You're not the first to notice it.

I have a CX7, manual , and have EXCATLY the same issue.
Shift out (neutral), rev it to ~ 2000 rpm and the whole body vibrates. Cross (up or down) that point and goes away.

But I also have slight vibrations at idle on neutral, when car is warm and idles ~ 700rpm, that didnt happen when the car was brand new (has 7.000km now).

Also, I get a strong SINGLE vibration when shutting down.

Krisekca: Do you also have these symptoms?

i've got it too

I have the exact same problem!

My 07 Mazda3 S is currently at the dealer right now being fixed.

So far, they've replaced the motor mounts and the AC compressor...but its still doing it. They're currently waiting on Mazda Tech to call them back to see if any TSB's exist on this issue.

The car didn't do this when i got it....why is it doing it now?

The dealer thinks that an unbalaced flywheel might be the cause. I guess I'll be getting a new clutch for free?

just got the car back.....

Picked up the car from the dealer today. Mazda tech said that the vibration is normal. Apparently there's some TSB that says that you need to check motor mounts...and as long as those are okay, then everything is fine. They said that the harmonic frequency of the engine is around 2200rpm or something.

So, I got some new motor mounts, a new AC, new armature, new pulley, and new belts....but the vibration is still there. Oh well...apparently its normal.
