vibration at 5k rpm

Got something new to deal with...interesting violent vibration right at 5k, goes away about 5200. very, very odd, not like any vibration i've ever heard. any clue what might make a vibration right then, then go away almost immediately? Thanks.

Funny, I have the same thing around 3,500. Feel it through the pedal.

yeah, i can feel it in the pedal too, but it feels like it's vibrating the whole car. do you have poly mounts? I have the front and rear stiff AWR's. but this just started. hmmm

dude, don't even say that! my luck, it will be....it's so weird, it goes away right after 5k, like it's causing some kinda crazy harmonic! still no solutions.

I have experienced the same thing on my CX9, but when I switch to manual mode it works perfectly. The local transmission shop said I needed a new transmission, but I feel like it's more computer related. Like the computer doesn't know if it should be shifting up or down, and the vibrations go away once i accelerate more or slow down. Could this be a computer fix and who would I take the car to that would know how to fix this since the local experts (TSI in MN) said I need to replace the whole thing to guarantee it was fixed.
