Vibrant Exhaust help

i just recently installed my vibrant exhaust.. that s*** is loud as hellz... i noticed most of the sound is coming from the front end and not the muffler.. i also noticed that there was two bung holes for the O2 sensor... i used the one after the cat..but was wondering what size bolt i can use to cover up the other bung hole.. and also is it normal for most of the sound to come from the front end(towards the j-pipe)??

If you didn't plug the first hole on the j-pipe, the excess noise is probably from the huge hole in your exhaust. There's a bolt on the stock pipe near the same place that you transfer over.

Yep, and make sure your stuff is tight at the initial s-pipe connection. I take it you didn't find or make it through the huge Vibrant exhaust thread to the part where it's explained you have to pull the 02 bung plug from the factory j-pipe and swap it over to the new exhaust.

Definitely get Kartboy hangers (mine were hella fun to install, but worth it), and check your j-pipe to engine block brace after a 100 miles or so. I trashed one of those braces before I stiffened up my motor mounts and lost another when I mounted it back like the factory. Use lock washers on that brace and you'll keep it there. It's there for a reason as it forces a lot of the strain from movement away from your s-pipe connection area and to the flex joint and exhaust hangers. Good luck.

Thanks guys, i got that fix and it helps.. i did install them with cart boys, but found out that it was hitting the metal part near underneath the bumber.. i just used pliers and bent the metal piece upwards...love the exhaust..highly recommend it. i found that the turbo spools up so much faster and louder also the acceleration response is awesome.

Yeah it's a great exhaust system. What's your next mod?

i want to grab something light since i have to save up. maybe a boost controller, boost gauge. what do you guys recommend i do next for. i probably have like $400 left for mods..atleast for now hehe

how bout a CAI or SMIC upgrade, maybe even the 626 manifold swap.

I'd look into some motor mounts too. They are literally lifesavers with the way the OEM mounts are SO CRAPPY! And the mounts and inserts will actually leave you some cash left over for something else.

wtf?
why would he need a bigger manifold if his only upgrade is exhaust?
our mani is fine up to 250whp.......i dont think he';s there yet....(ughdance)

im definitely not hitting 250whp and i just got the protege garage intake manifold and i noticed nice gains from it. i recommend not getting a cai (waste of money) and buying a front motor mount and the intake manifold.

^ not bad ;)
definetly no need for CAI, SMIC is a much better investment on the intake side.

Yep, my Vibrant was hitting in the same place, and I did exactly what you did.

Motor mounts would be a good idea, and I highly recommend you PM Turfburn and get one of his filled rear mounts. The AWR 70 is fine for front. I actually swapped my AWR 70 rear last week for one of Turfburn's rear mounts, and the nasty vibration is gone now.

BTW, don't forget to check your j-pipe to block bracket after a week or two.

Why would i need new motor mounts..I heard it keeps the vibration steady buy i don't experience any kind of vibrations. also it is too late not to buy a CAI, i already did, used from a member here, an injen cai for 135 shipped. also bought a defi d series boost gauge(used of course).
Why would a CAI be a waste of money??

Exactly. You won't with the stock mounts, because the engine is slopping around in the engine bay and the stockers won't transmit the vibration. The problem with this is, the engine isn't supposed to move much relative to everything else that's attached (like the exhaust), so things start to break. Mine shattered the j-pipe bracket just from a torn rear mount. You can consider this a mandatory upgrade.

the stock mounts are rubber, tear easily, and allow the engine to rock. the exhaust is stressed when the engine moves back and forth.

cold air intake will give a flutter (turkey) sound when you blow off. also it wont give you any performance gains, the stock box flows plenty.

a boost gauge is definitely a good idea so you can monitor your psi level.
