Vibrant exhaust dyno

Ive also read that with the hood closed and a fan pointed at the front end of the car it will make more power than with the hood open. I'd give that a try.

edit: my bad. You have noo idea how tired I am.

Absolutely correct. The consensus months ago from everybody was to keep the hood closed with a fan pointed at the vent to the intercooler.

Also.... make sure the runs are in 4th!!!!!! I was getting like 230-235ish in 3rd. And the guys doing the dyno were thinking five speed which would be 3rd gear pulls.. The only reason I got my 3rd gear pulls was after doing a couple runs my self(in 4th) I asked the shop guy to do it and he ran two in third thinking he was in the right gear. I was like WTF:) My numbers were so low and then I saw he was in third the second time, before I corrected him. Thats why I got 5 pulls BTW. Make sure they pull in 4th.

And smelling gas? I guess we all could if we were trying.... what is it with this setup that makes the car so rich.

Also I did find a dyno that looks like ours. Look at the A/F on the ETS stock run and with intercooler run. I'll try to post a link.

Check out that A/F. It looks JUST like mine. And by the way Scooter. That stock run should show you all the differences in dynos and how meaningless they are except to bragging rights.

I will see if they will honor my requests for hood down and pulls in 4th. I was a little hesitant on telling them what to do since this was my first dyno. So I just stood back and let them do their thing.

They want to see you get good numbers.... just tell them what we're all getting, and how. They wouldnt have given you free second runs if they wernt feeling bad about the results themselves.

Dont worry yet.

Also, when guys say they are spinning in second.... they are staying in heavy boost(probably a flatshift) and slipping the clutch a little. I can spin 2nd all I want but only if I "dont drive normal". Im sure your car could too... it takes practice. Not more power. Cars much less powerful than ours can spin through second with proper shifting and throttle.

Again... no worries yet, my friend.

Ok, went back for my second run which was scheduled for 9:30, but had to leave at 11, because they had one of "thier" cars on the dyno. I figured why wait and get the same results. I think I will take it to another shop next time. The pull was done in 4th gear as some of you were asking.

For right now I will just drive the car and enjoy it as it is. Thanks to all who gave their input.

Well that sucks, that you didnt get another shot. I was hoping for some more news. But really going to another place will be better anyway. Its nice to get some corroboration, because dynos seem so damn different.

I noticed the A/F is rich but it isnt as bad as mine. It goes under 10 at 5300 where mine is there at 4000. But the main thing is that it still dives below 10.... thats just crazy for cars with the MScai and exhaust(at least compared to others Ive seen). For some reason this combo does it though. Strange.

Im glad you posted that.

Ya I was a little disappointed I didn't get the second run. I guess they figured they got their money so why put me in front of one of their project cars.

Thanks again all! I will continue to keep you updated as times goes on.
